I’m talking about riders that most of us didn’t talk about much or, you could say, we kind of forgot about while so were so busy picking out favorites and arguing about who’s gonna win and all that usual stuff. So, who were you surprised or impressed by…that you hadn’t expected to be?

For me, there’s too damn many to list!

But, I’ve got one that was very pleasantly surprising in his fortitude, speed and endurance:

Marvin Musquin

I mean, damn, I know his history; but, there’s A LOT of that “history”…because, Marvin’s been doing it long enough that he’s already backed it down to “just SX”…well, and “development riding”…and volunteering to race…a 250.

At this race, in this weather, you get punished on a 250. You work your ass off to pass the 450s and for your efforts…what do you get? A ton of sand in your face! But, during his 2 Motos…Marvin took his thrashing and delivered. In BOTH motos.

And it was pretty damn awesome to watch.

There are PLENTY more riders that impressed. I’m gonna have to be honest, I had absolutely NO IDEA that Maxime Renaux had so much Speed and “Whoop Ass” in him. He held off Jett & Chase like a veteran champion that’s been doing it for a decade. I mean, damn! That kid looked GOOD!

Hell, I could go on for days.

Who’s your pick?

I was impressed by Jago Geerts staying with Tomac as they both gapped the field .

The 3 individual class winners, Renaux, Cooper, Jett, did better than I expected...

Jago and Jett were my two big stand outs. Those results for being a first time 450 rider were pretty incredible. Jett I think expected it , but Jago seemed surprised he could rip the living shit out of a 450 like that. And so was I.

I for some reason like Maxime. He got smoked in moto 1 then finds a gear for moto 3. Was awesome to see.

I know Ferrandis is a beast, but after missing most of nationals, having middling results in his two races back, and then getting hurt, I did not expect him to look like the fastest guy on the track.

I'd like to know if anyone had those winners picked. If they did, I want next weeks lottery numbers from them. MXoN, Always delivers.

If you suggested that Cooper would win his class and neither Chase nor Eli would you would have been laughed off the forum. .
What a surprise.

Saad Soulimani of Morocco; guy got 20th in the MX2 qualifier and was all over the back of Anstie for most of the race. Pretty solid for a rider from a country I didn't even know had moto.

Geerts and Jett. I knew Jett would do good, but a moto win first time racing a 450?

As far as Australia goes, I would have expected Jett to be 3rd ish, Hunter to be 3rd, and with Mitch I expected one top 8 and a Dnf.
So overall it was a great result to Podium.

The USA supporters expect too much from their team.
There are too many variables, and on the day riders " Hero" performances, to expect a USA win.
So we'll done to Team USA.

Ferrandis impressed me most. Guy has been off the bike for most of the summer.

I told a mate that Jett was gonna 1-1

To be fair I was joking and didn't think he would

But still I said it so 9, 42, 28, 35, 22, 11, 18, Supplementaries 6, 10, 38 (I realise he didn't go 1-1 so maybe change a few)

God I wish we got to see him battle Eli and Chase this year!

This here too. Dylan was just a dang beast today. His results on paper don't show that , but dang he was flat out ripping out there. Having the fastest laps , in traffic!

Geertz, Reneux, and Ferrandis all surprised me today. It wouldn't surprise me, however, if I misspelled one or two of their names. I'm going with.Geertz as the most surprising of all.

I must admit, I thought Cooper would be a potential problem. Top 10 both rides! I'll take it.

All 3 winners. Picking Jet is only like winning the Pools v's Power Ball for all 3 Tongue

So many. These guys were sending it like their life depending on it. NFL has the pro bowl which is a joke. This was not that.
