Wow might be two champions and one runner up, crazy strong team
Can France ward off the bad luck of MXDN in Saint Jean d'Angely in 2000 ?
That year, Tortelli (2nd of AMA MX250), Roncada (2nd of AMA MX125 and Bolley (250 World Champ) had the worst luck at home with Bolley having a rock broking his nose early in the weekend and Travis and RC killing Ronron and Dyno in the races...

Surprised at Musquin being picked.... I thought the French spat at their riders who rode over in the States.

How's that? Tortelli, Vuillemin, Roncada have all been selected while racing in the States. Musquin was selected in 2012 aswell.

Plus, this team is just logical sense as Tixier is nowhere the last races.

He is our best 250F rider so far, neither Tixier (REALLY OFF the pace at the moment) nor Ferrandis (recovering from ACL) would do better. No really other rider to pick up.

However, Marvin will have to deliver better rides than his last Mxdn participations.

If someone gets injured for France, who do ya pick next.
Tixier or pourcel????

If it's Paulin or Febvre who's injured, we take Pourcel (or Frossard).

If Musquin can't ride, we take Tixier (or Paturel).

Tixier is going backward at the moment, I would pick Pourcel but it's all about gamble with the crafty... He has never shown any interest or extra motivation for the national team races.

What's the story with paturel, seems to be on the improve.

I saw Febvre last week in Loket GP for the first time in person and he was flawless. I'm gonna go and say that he'll be even stronger than Marvin. Very strong team altogether.

It's not bad luck when RC and Travis beat them. They were beter. That's not luck.

France is definitely going to be the team to beat. 3 amazing riders for sure. Although I think Febvre should have been MX1 and Paulin MX3

USA will be lucky to get top 5 this year. FRA wins unless something crazy unforeseen happens.

USA has a good chance to podium. Not sure what other 5 or so countries have a chance to beat them overall. I'd love for you to name them and give some reasons why.

First, I believe USA will podium too.

But there are some nations that could get ahead of them aswell:

Offcourse France
Belgium (probably Van Horebeek - Lieber - Strijbos)
Switzerland (could be Tonus - Seewer - Guillod)
Germany (if Roczen decides he races it could be Roczen - Hsu - Nagl)
Great Britain (Simpson and Anstie seem to be sure of a spot, so add Wilson or Searle if injuryfree)
Australia (I guess Ferris and Waters will be picked, MX2-spot no idea)

Plus some countries with riders who will go for individual succes (Italy - Cairoli, Russia - Bobryshev, Netherlands - Coldenhoff, Slovenia - Gajser, Latvia - Jonass). I think in a month or so the first draft of the entry list will be released, so we can start guessing.

That is one strong team! Honestly I think that is the team to beat this year , and that goes for every other country including us.

That is the stongest team we have had in years: I am not sure which competitors will line up with so many injuries this season, but I think Musquin can do 2 top 10, possibly a top 6 in moto 2 (I predict between 10-5 and 12-8). Febvre is in such spirit right now that he could win 2 motos, even though he will probably start from the outside (I predict between 3-5 and 4-8). And Paulin is the second word of transcending, I see him winning again at least 1 moto (I predict between 1-4 and 3-5). My analysis/prediction makes between 18 to 28 points. Therefore it is hard not to be on the podium, but it is also a good shot at winning.

All that to say that in my mind the US are still favorite, and many teams can create the surprise on a good day. Anything can happen, and a MXdN victory is built step by step with a bit of luck for the grid in qualifications, then a great quali then great starts on Sunday. Martin can also finish between 10-5 and 12-8, Webb between 3-5 and 4-8 and Barcia between 1-4 and 3-5, same as the British, German, Belgian and Swiss teams on a good day with great starts.

Plus I reckon the French team has a disadvantage: I am not sure our riders will be able to hear their motor as the crowd will go bananas to a level not seen since maybe Bercy 1990 ... Smile

France has their A team. French repeat this year, most likely.

There are a bunch of strong teams. I think the top 4 are France, USA, Belgium, and Great Britain. I think usa will podium, but to say they will be "lucky" to get top 5 is crazy in my opinion. I'm really hoping dungey decides to race it. Dungey, martin/webb and barcia would be great. But even barcia, martin, and webb could be battling for the win and certainly the podium.

Will be hard to beat the "French Connection" this year for sure.
But nothing is in the bag, as they say, "Thats why they race"

First place unless they have some terrible luck. That's a great team.
