MX2 qualifying race underway. Quite a lot of empty gates as expected. The track looks fun though!

Tracks a highway. Not very good for racing. Really one lined and very high speed.

Rodriguez's got some balls. His pass on Renaux was intense.

Wasn’t sure what to expect from this. Just tuned in. Thoughts so far;

-Dirt looks very similar to losail?
-track is very fast, like really fast.
-I expected bigger jumps. Don’t get me wrong, the big doubles etc are pretty decent, but nothing really stupid, the table tops seemed fairly reasonable, so I think it should be a safe track although it’s fast.
-it actuallt provides some decent racing so far in mx2, hopefully that will continue.
-lots of riders say they are impressed with the facilities etc, not sure if they have to though?
-as much as I’d rather it be somewhere else in Europe at a proper track, heck the flyaway tracks are mostly crap, but this is better than Thailand and Losial
-the Lappers are like terrible, no disrespect but there like intermediates, couple of times they could even make it to end of table tops. Pretty dangerous, but they have flaggers

Where is weltin?

Gajser close to Herlings speed wise or did Herlings go down?

Herlings did not go down. Gajser rode great!

They were a level above the rest. Dont think jeffrey is going to do anything crazy the last GPs. If he feels he has to push really hard to win, he will take a 2nd or 3rd. Championship mode

Encouraging race for Gajser
Herlings probably still has him covered easily but 30 seconds better than the rest in a qualifying race is pretty good

Man , this is one high speed track. Flat tracking skills required.

Gajser can get to the level Herlings is on at the minute. He doesn't have anywhere near the confidence Herlings has, but he has the speed at times. He came into the season in such a bad position. If he has a good off season and can come into the season fit and ready, he can challenge for the title

Weltins Team elected not to make the trip,, Adam Sterry and Reuben Fernandez are both injured, they elected to go back and prepare for the final two races.

Shame because he has been impressive since he jumped ship .

Herlings lost two titles due to crashes/injuries, he is on cruise controle now. I think he rode on 80% max. He didnt even sweat....

That track has absolutey nothing going for it.
I don’t know what you watched, but that was some good qualifying races. Whilst it is pretty stupidly fast, the passing looked good, and the lines also. Plus everyone interviewed said how good it actually was to ride

Its a shame there are so many guys out injured, 13 mx2 and 7 in MX1.

Track prep overnight will be the key, if the leave it and dont flood it, it will be good, if they over water it and it becomes a rut fest, not so good.

So Eastern Europe is too far for some of these teams to travel ? I noticed entries in Bulgaria were a little light too. I get that the top 20 in the gps is very competitive and quality over quantity and all that but Luongo should make it easier for some of these
teams to make the trip .

I think it’s all the logistics. It must be so expensive to get bikes, gear, tools etc over. Malin said even factory Honda were running a smaller rig for these rounds. I think the satalitie teams or whatever who have gays running out of top 10-15 don’t think it’s worth the trip as the season almost done and there’s not much to gain.

Quick, Ban The 250s!

They've an almost 2 : 1 more injuries than the 450s............

Just joking people - but, when you read the usual suspects always going on about how 450s are too fast / dangerous, and they should be done away with, it's the fact that we do a risky sport with no 'cage' around us, and minimal protective gear used (by most Pros), on ever more vicious tracks, that gets so many on the bench / in the hospital.

Weltin's team didn't make the trip.... and after the logistical nightmare of trying to enter Turkey with a team truck, it's not totally surprising

Yea the MXGP isnt so much a world championship as it is a Europe championship + a couple other places. They need to go to Canada, Japan, South Korea, China, Egypt, South Africa, Canada, Puerto Rico or DR, Australia, India.

I just looked at the 2019 schedule and they added China and Hong Kong so thats absolutely huuuge. My point was that if you dont have China, India, or Africa its not a WORLD championship I dont think I need to explain why but its all there is for now. They can do better though and they are... by adding China and Hong Kong. It looks like they agree with me and have also recognized this and added China so its all good. Bonus points for the day when they add Australia but they do have Indonesia so theyre close.

I was trying to say instead of having so many races in Europe spread it out to China, Japan, India, Africa, the Islands (PR, DR, Jamaica, Haiti idk) Australia, maybe South Korea...The world championship needs to be the world championship as theres already a US series, a Euro series, Australian, Japanese...etc.
