The GP of Russia will be held on Monday April 30th and Tuesday May 1st. Not a lot of entries due the difficult and expensive trip, a lot of the smaller teams choose to stay at home. 33 entries in MXGP, 26 in MX2, 56 in EMX250 and 16 (including 3 wild cards) in EMX300.

56 vs 26, is that cause the entry fee is so muxh higher? but logistics? are they driving those 56 bikes in or flying?

Damn, should have borrowed a 250 2 stroke somewhere and lined up. Could have bragged about scoring European championship points for the rest of my life.

They should let rounds like this for the MXGP and MX2 only.

Hunter Lawrence will have an MRI on Thursday and will decide afterwards if he races in Russia or not.

I thought Tonkov was racing.
Tonkov: It isn’t much. I keep riding, but it’s getting more for fun. The situation at the moment is, the Russian Federation called me and asked me to race the Russian GP. I hadn’t ridden in like five months, not since I rode a supercross race in India, then I had holidays. We had snow in Russia, so I didn’t ride so much. I told the federation I won’t put my own money into racing the Grand Prix, and they told me they would pay everything. I said that is good, I go riding for a month and try and make myself ready. So that is what happened. I am where the GP will be, its perfect weather and all the tracks are good, but very dry and I use two tyres a day on these tracks. I keep waiting for the money to come and I spent a lot of money in training and then they come back and said they can’t give me the money. About a week ago they said they don’t have money. I was training like crazy. I still go to the race to watch.

US gets Memorial day as a May holiday. It's a better time of the year for most people to have a day off than May Day.

The track is a pretty cool layout, but that is some of the rockiest soil I have ever seen on a motocross track. Looks like it is just tilled up shale when the track is dry. No wonder Tonkov was chewing up 2 tires a day!
