I Totally agree with the RC & bubba thing I was thinking that watching the race!

I Think we can also see why TC and decari wanted him to stay in mx2 longer haha

As someone who is a huge fan of both Herlings and Cairoli, here's my opinion from what I saw at the track. Regardless of whether or not Cairoli crashes in the first Moto, Herlings wins. Herlings was the fastest of the two, without doubt, but he wasn't light-years ahead of Cairoli on speed. To me, Cairoli had race 2 in the bag. Herlings had started to catch him and for a couple of laps took big chunks out of AC's lead, but Cairoli responded and actually pulled away slightly just before he crashed. He didn't lose a huge amount of time when he crashed and Herlings still had an awful lot to do to catch him, but IMO that crash changed the momentum of the race and without it, I don't think Herlings has enough time to catch and pass AC
I missed Cairolis crasch in the 2nd moto...what happened? Did he loose a lot of time? Was it near the end of the moto?

My 2 cent they are a level above everone else. I think it will be a mental game between them, and i won’t bet against Cairoli. Herlings is obviously stronger than Cairoli right now though

Any news on JVH89, looked like he went down hard?
From what Malin said he was just sore and took a knock on his head. His bike was probably rather bent up

I think it will be very interesting to see what happens on the narrow hard pack tracks. I don't think Herlings can afford to get starts around 10th place on those tracks while Cairoli starts in the top 3 every time.

Herlings actually had rather good starts, but his bad gatepick clearly cost him positions. I’m excited to see what happens after Red Sand when they go to Arco which is the first hard pack race this year. If Herlings can show that he can beat Cairoli on a track like that his confidence will skyrocket even more and then he will be really hard to beat.

He crashed in the tight hairpin after the long downhill left hander. He didn't lose a lot of time maybe 4-5 seconds. At first I wasn't sure if he had actually gone down. I just saw the the yellow flag out and him riding away, but friends of mine who were stood on that turn said he did go down. As I said, he didn't lose a lot of time, but in the lap or so before that he had actually pulled away a little. That 4/5 second swing changed the whole momentum of the race IMO. It happened with about 10 mins to go I think

Yea cairoli is just a machine, 4 out of 4 holeshots. Crazy. But I also think Herlings did start pretty well considering his gate.

Maybe Cairoli is pushing too hard to keep in front of Herlings. What is hear is AC always making excuses, mistake there, season is long blabla. He pretends that if he push a bit harder he can keep in front of Herlings. But he says that he don't want to take any risk. I'm damn sure AC is riding on his best but it isn't enough for JH.
Well it wouldnt surprise me since the pace is much faster. They were up 1 minute or so on p3.

Track made quite some victims.
Searle, de jong, de waal and vaessen with broken bones.
5 guys couldnt line up in mx2 for race 2.
Seewer, Gajser and jvh all had big ones.

That's my thinking. Herlings was the faster of the 2, but I didn't think that there was a massive amount in it. Cairoli was at least 10+ seconds in front before he went down and riding very well. I think Herlings would have found it very difficult to catch and pass him without that 3-4 second jump. Plus Cairoli would obviously have lost some rhythm and his heart rate/nerves increase, which would have cost him some time in the following laps

Perfectly said!

Man I just desperately hope both guys can stay healthy, two absolute legends slugging it out race after race doesn't get any better.

Apparently he should be back in 3 weeks.
As a fan I really feel for him, I just don't think we have or possibly ever will see his full potential in mx1 Sad

Question for who watched it on tv/mxgp-tv:
Did the broadcast show a bunch of crashes (live or replay)?
In race 2 Gajser (2), Jvh, Lieber, Bobryshev van Mierden and van Berkel all had (i think) big ones.

I'm asking because when i watch other gp's i dont see them showing many crashes and yesterday we had a bunch.

They showed the 2 of Gajser, JVH laying on the ground & that was it.

Lieber's bike broke down right in front of me. He was around 15th position.

Herlings started running a bigger tank last year, must of been running on fumes at one race which caused them to change. Last years was just a standard enduro tank I believe.

RedBull KTM have won every race of EMX125, MX2 and MXGP so far, how long can they keep it up? Wondering do they have any riders in emx250 this year?

When will they make a emx300 team :D

I know im aussie and theres alot of hype around hunter Lawrence, but a big shout to jed beaton. Hes only just turned 20 and hes in Europe alone trying to make a name for himself . 8th in the first moto after coming from 20th then a first lap crash and came back to 17th in the second. Hes probably weighs around 175 pounds so hes already at a disadvantage. Im sure he didnt cost f&h much to sign. Hopefully he can stay in europe for a few years cause he will be a Very good 450 rider.

He crashed and got run over right in front of me in the second race. By the time he got back up, Geerts came in and could stop just in time (flaggers were very bad placed in the corner behind the bridge, riders couldn't see them in that position). Geerts and Beaton tried to get away, but front wheels got stuck, so both bikes stalled again. Great race from both of them!

That second 450 moto was one of the best races I've ever seen.. Two of the best sand riders in the world pushing each other to their absolute limit of speed and skill..

I honestly felt privileged to be watching it! Absolutely incredible!!

Any idea what the power is like in the F&H Kawasaki?

Seems like the orange and white bikes have done their homework very well, and maybe even distanced themselves even more from the rest of the pack. Private KTM and Huskys maybe even faster than factory japaneese?

On that topic Hunters bike doesn't look like a rocket either. Did they receive help from Geico or not? I read somewhere that it didn't happen, but I have also seen older articles where Hunter said it was gonna happen. My guess is it hasn't arrived yet.

The racing was exciting for results we knew we were going to get. Statistically this is Herlings best track and AC has won here bunch although it's been years and no one else in the class on Sand is close when these guys go full tilt. AC in my mind has made 3 big errors his last three races. You dont crash in the sand and expect to beat Herlings although I think Herlings wins Moto 1 anyways. Jasokins has been a huge disappointment IMO, maybe no Factory Bike and Everts in his corner is hurting. For all accounts Everts was hard to deal with but he got the most out of Jaskonis. The series needs sand guys and he was looking real good at times last year. Gasjer needs to keep it on two wheels, he is the only guy that can compete with the KTM juggernaut and he can't stay off the ground.. again.

It is a shame because he ran a decent pace in the qualifying race. Before the season started he said something along the line of 'if i don't deliver this could be my last season as a full time mxgp rider'. An injury certainly doesnt help
