Not much of choice really after the decision by the Italian government. Can’t help but feel it’s a bit of an overreaction but time will tell I guess

Great decision! It will be hotter by then and hopefully warmer temps will equal less virus.

Thanks for the post.

Watching the SX yesterday had me wondering what the impact on the SX will be.

I live in lombardia, near trentino.
Lombardia is the region of tracks like mantova, maggiora, dorno.
The situation is not as easy as the majority of the people tought it would have been.
Stay safe guys.

Science.

Now, do YOU have anything at all to say about the Italian MXGP instead of just trying to fuss with someone?

Same for you. You can go to a different forum to talk politics. This is about the MXGP of Italy.

Science, really?
Damn shame about this pesky virus that is inconveniencing everyone and postponing the GP. You'll pardon me if I reserve the right to call b******* when I see it.

I also heard on the radio that this virus doesn’t like warmer weather.
Not just this virus. Viruses in general. That is why your temperature goes up when you`re sick, your body is trying to kill it.
Since this virus is new, it`s assumpion that it will be better with warmer weather.

In general science is correct - viruses don't circulate as well in warmer weather. It's called "seasonality" and is the reason why we have our seasonal flu season in the autumn and winter. Some viruses don't survive as well with heat and humidity differences, plus an increase in UV strength. Whether this applies to COVID-19, it is unknown at this point. However, in the case of COVID-19, the bigger issue is that no one has any immunity to it. Not even partial immunity as we often have with season flu (as the strains mutate we get some overlap in our "coverage").

I’m 18 and i’m still studying (last year)
Well, i go to school in codogno where the virus started to expand. My classmates has been isolated for like 14 days and are still blocked in codogno.
They can go outside but not in small areas (no gym, no pub)

While for me, living near pavia the situation is slightly better. We can move in lombardy but we cant access to other regions if not for emergencies, and obviously we cant access the original redzone (codogno, casalpusterlengo ect ect).
Regarding moto, only the riders who have a agonistic license can go training but only during the weekend.
No races for the moment.
I consider my self pretty lucky because it’s 3 weeks we are at home from school because of this problem and for one more month it will be like this.

As somebody said above, we dont know if warmer temps will kill the virus.
Also my relatives work in a hospital and i can tell you that this is not a joke. A lot of immunosuppressed (?) people are having some hard days to go through.
Luckily people from 0 to 50-55 years have great chances to not die.
While older people 60+ have big probabilities to go away..

Always thought it was that the warmer weather meant less regular flu, colds etc and as such the populations immune system would be a little less susceptible (stronger) to picking up something like covid 19?

Edit:
I’m not smart enough (prob you guys aren’t either) but heres a good link I think:

F1, MotoGP and MXGP might be in big, big trouble. If Italian based teams/people can't travel to the races there will be massive issues. Cairoli already talked about it in the MX Vice post race podcast from Valkenswaard.

Imagine if HRC or De Carli KTM can't attend a race.

That is really increible information that everyone should read and avoid listening to the fool that is.

Hopefully the warm weather helps, but its going to take lot more than that.

Italy is just the start.

the isolation and travel restrictions in China has shown to massively stop the spread. I wouldnt be surprised if other countries enact the same travel restrictions. Especially if it has a significant effect in Italy.

I wonder if MXGP would suspend a part of the season to allow these restrictions to play out and the spread to be controlled, while some top teams are unable to attend?

It would probably be wise to consider it

It seems hard to imagine MXGP continuing without the Italian teams & riders.

Aren't a lot of the MXGP organisers & FIM based out of Italy also?

If they cancelled Argentina this would give around 5 weeks break till Spain in which things may of changed (or got worse Sad )
