I'll just leave this here. Interesting if nothing else. Kenny and Eli were flying.

Race 1 (MX1 + MX2)
Lap Rank Finish Best Lap In Lap Rider
1 16 1:42.466 11 Eli Tomac (USA)
2 1 1:42.937 5 Antonio Cairoli (ITA)
3 2 1:43.457 3 Ken Roczen (GER)
4 9 1:43.626 3 Valentin Guillod (SUI)
5 6 1:43.698 7 Ryan Dungey (USA)
6 5 1:43.889 4 Gautier Paulin (FRA)
7 4 1:43.995 4 Dean Ferris (AUS)
8
3 1:44.189 4 Tommy Searle (GBR)
9 8 1:44.258 5 Ken de Dycker (BEL)
10 7 1:44.496 6 Jeremy van Horebeek (BEL)

Race 1 (MX1+MX2)

- Antonio Cairoli won the war, but Eli Tomac won the lap chart battle. While on an incredible charge through the pack, Tomac edged the seven-time world champ (and everyone else) for the fastest time when he set a blistering 1:42.466 on lap 11. And Tomac was on a 250F, which, as you’ll see throughout this story, wasn’t a big disadvantage on this track.

- Ken Roczen, also on a 250F, was brilliant on home soil. Returning to the country where he capped a historic MX2 title run in 2011, Roczen dazzled the home crowd, leading Cairoli early before finishing second. Roczen set the third fastest lap of the moto, but his 1:43.457 was nearly a second off Tomac’s fastest lap.

- Valentin Guillod, reigning EMX250 Champion, announced himself to the world in Germany. Guillod, from Switzerland, led early before finishing ninth. He set the fourth (second MX1) fastest time of the moto.

- The were four MX2 riders inside the top ten in fastest laps set in Race 1.

Race 2 (MX2 + Open)
Lap Rank Finish Best Lap In Lap Rider
1 2 1:42.316 9 Eli Tomac (USA)
2 1 1:42.555 7 Ken Roczen (GER)
3 3 1:44.727 7 Clement Desalle (BEL)
4 7 1:44.815 8 Jeremy van Horebeek (BEL)
5 4 1:45.092 4 Justin Barcia (USA)
6 5 1:45.240 7 Dean Ferris (AUS)
7 8 1:45.790 4 Alessandro Lupino (ITA)
8
9 1:45.814 10 Christophe Charlier (FRA)
9 12 1:46.172 10 Jordi Tixier (FRA)
10 6 1:46.199 9 Tanel Leok (EST)

Race 2 (MX2+Open)

- Again, Eli Tomac set the fastest lap of the race, clipping Ken Roczen by tenths of a second. Tomac’s late charge fell short, with Roczen stealing the moto, but a 250 rider setting the fastest times of the day in both races is an impressive feat that should not be overlooked.

- Roczen was no slouch. The reigning four-time MX2 MXoN champion won his first career MXoN moto with a gutsy late moto performance, holding off Tomac’s late advances.

- Tomac and Roczen were two seconds faster than top-finishing Open (450) rider Clement Desalle on the lap charts. Clearly, these two were on a different level.

- There were six MX2 riders inside the top ten in fastest laps set in Race 2. The track really seemed to work for the 250s.

Race 3 (MX1+Open)

- That’s not a typo. The embattled Christophe Charlier, who was selected over Marvin Musquin for Team France, set the fastest lap in Race 3. Charlier, who finished 30th in the moto, was the highest finisher to set the fastest lap of a race.

- Russia was a dark horse podium contender entering the weekend, but when Evgeny Bobryshev went out of Race 1 with bike problems those hopes were thrown out the window. “Russian Bob” salvaged his weekend with a third in Race 3—setting the third fastest lap of the moto.

- Estonia’s Tanel Leok continues to save his best for the grandest stage. He led the small Northern European country to a second consecutive top ten overall and set the ninth fastest lap of Race 3.

Roczen reckoned the 350 was the perfect machine, and had Cairoli ever actually had to go 100% flatout, i'm sure he would have showed it

Not sure I have ever seen somebody ride a bike like Tomac did in that opening moto. It was very impressive.

Comparing 450f lap times to 250f lap times and then making the assumption that the 250fs were at a disadvantage and therefore were riding at a different level than the 450f riders is stretching it. The 250f is an easier bike to race. Did the track have incredible power sapping hills? Tomac has been riding at a different level like RV in the 450f class. Still, you don't beat a 450f rider until you're also on a 450f machine.

I noticed Cairoli's times stepped up after Tomac's charged was in full swing, then immediately dropped when Eli went down

He seems to do this a lot,I know Di Carli and the pit crew seem to be well on the ball, they obviously hang a well informed pit-board out and Tony takes it all onboard Smile
