Im wondering if they could move the muffler part in an inch or too. So keep the same size can and volume just take an inch if tube out. Basically how the CRF450 has them tucked in so that the muffler is narrower where it attaches to the pipe but larger at the exhaust tip/end.

yes well thats one of the benefits on the Honda, shorter pipes and therefore more out of the way if you have a big crash

*Update* ML's 450 was finally removed and all dirt/mud was removed after a long weekend. Only things lost were time, ego and a set of front wheel bearings...
