You are shocked by that? Every other shootout has the Honda at 2nd or 3rd....go figure. The KTM and Husky deserve to be at the top.

Or their dealer tells them to ride a Kawi.

Did the yami do better than 4th in any shootout, other than winning the dirt rider shootout? Lol

Nope, I actually like the bike, yes its slightly heavier but got good power and great suspension...I think the 2017 shootout results show how close ALL the bikes are...and it has been said many times before but you could do well on any brand. Get the best deal you can I reckon.

All the bikes being close is a good thing. If i was going to get a 450 today, id most likely get a leftover rmz and dump some coin into it and make it "my bike"

All the bikes are amazing, the KTM and Husky especially. Call me a fan boy, but I will take the sixth place yellow bike with the black fender any day of the week, An ECU remap, full exhaust, suspension revalve and and oversize font rotor, throw in a think seat and all for less than the KTM, and that bike will absolutely rip!!!

Yep...I agree, the RMZ is a good bike with a little work Smile

Because the KTM and Husqvarna are about £1500 to £2000 more than the Suzuki and not everyone cares about their 450 being that little bit better than the others.

What do they mean exactly by "if you want a yellow bike with a black fender"??
The RMZ is the only bike with mismatch fenders. The KXF, CRF, YZF, SXF all have the same color front fender as rear fender now.

We have left the 90's and have moved on to the 00's again.

$9399 MSRP KTM
$8749 MSRP Suzuki

That is a $650 difference, far from the $2k everyone claims...

I've seen suzuki 450s $6,500 out the door. KTM is every bit of $9,300 to 10+. MSRP means nothing.

Price of left over Suzukis is down for sure.. why anyone would buy even current model in same money they get KTM or Husky?

Msrp doesn't reflect the manufacturer incentives that are quite large for Suzuki since the bike hasn't changed in 3 years and they can't sell them.

Conversely, if you want an Austrian 450, many places will bring one in once you paid a deposit, you pay full msrp, plus freight and setup and it goes to over 10k, indeed, 11k at many California dealers

That is a load of hooplah, I am in the market for a 2017 350 and plenty of dealers are willing to work with me. I have 2 quotes for $1k less than MSRP out the door, I just have to see who is sweetening the deal the best for me...

Plenty of 450 Katooms on the floor too...

This price difference thing everyone throws in when ktm wins a shootout is ridiculous. Just because Suzuki are blowing out left overs at cost doesnt mean KTM dealers should do the same. They command retail or close to it and its because bikes sell in more numbers so reason to blow them out at comparable price to some RMZ left over lol. You also can't get a hydraulic clutch, brembo brakes or billet hubs, traction control or 4hp for $650. The bikes command more money and its because of the quality components that go into it. That being said, that new Honda im sure is a great bike and i actually thought it was going to be top 3.

Only one Shootout will place it second, it will get three thirds and two groups have it fourth.

KTM and Husky charge a premium for a premium product that people BUY! Go to any dealership and try to find a LEFTOVER ktm or husky.... That's why they go for what they do. Supply and Demand...

I just picked up a 17 CRF450. After coming off an air fork on the kawi I couldnt commit to KTMs AER fork. Air forks ramp up in air pressure mid moto and fluctuate. I didnt want the same result from KTM. I was almost sold on the ktm, although mixed reviews state electrical problems, wheels blowing out, massive amounts of maintance to keep it from crumbling. Yes its the lightest, best brakes, electric start but when it comes down to durability I dont think anyone reading these forms has a mechanic with them between practices to check the tolerances of all your light weight parts.

Exactly John. We had 1 16 TE 250 and it sold today. Not to mention KTM/ Husky has awesome rebates on left overs too. Bought my 14 450 in 16 and saved $1500. Oh this is shane btw.

Don't want a brand new broken bike that you can't get parts for taking up space in the garage?
