MX of Nations 2018 Red Bud

Planning on hitting Red Bud this year for the MX of Nations. Coming from California. Couple of questions.
1. Fly into O'Hare international?
2. Hotel? Where to stay?
3. VIP ticket, Silver or Gold?

If they all stay healthy we better damn well send Facciotti, Benoit & Pettis or Maffenbeier. Best chance in years to get our best result.

Be watching from home.

I am not a local, but unfortunately I have to travel a lot for a living, so... I would think Chicago would the be the cheapest choice for airfare. Southwest flies into Midway which is a little closer to Red Bud then O Hare, and I think easier to get in and out of in my experience. Pretty much all other big carriers fly into O Hare. Guessing South Bend is your best choice for Hotels, probably should book soon!!!

We are doing the general admission tickets since we plan to just move around all over anyway.

We are coming out from California too, but making it a 3 week road trip with the bikes in tow. Can't wait!

I've answered quite a lot of text messages on this since it was announced that it would be at Red Bud (as a Chicago resident). The consensus seems to be O'hare as the airport. There are smaller airports closer to the track, but you are probably going to have to do a connecting flight. Chicago to Red Bud is about 2 hours drive, add a bit more for traffic and the fact O'Hare is north west of the city.

South Bend is closest bigger location with hotels, being a college town it has a fair few hotels (I cannot comment on the quality though). The track is out in the countryside, so unless you are staying at the track you probably want to head to a town at night.

It feels like there is going to be a LOT of people making the same trip from the airport to the track. So perhaps people can work together on transport/rental car sharing?

My hotel is booked already as well. I'm staying in Mishawaka, IN which is basically South Bend. Driving out from PA on Wednesday that week and heading home the following Monday. I didn't buy a ticket yet. I can't wait!

If you’re flying into Ohare or Midway, I’d suggest arriving at non peak times. Traveling through Chicago and along the Indiana/Michigan border during rush hour could easily add an hour + to the 2 hour drive.

will mxgp-tv have a half season pass like i think they did last year? anyone know how much it was last year? the $150 was too much for the full season for me and redbud mxdn is $30 so if a half season discount comes out i'd like to do that, been missing out on herlings this year so far.
