What a sweet piece of functional art right here. Obviously not something you want to be beating on with a hammer but damn if it wouldn't be an impressive piece on a suspension bench.

Go on then how much? Definitely a show piece for any garage, but saying that if you put a vice like that in it imagine the toys that would be in it too !

That's not actually a bad price considering the machining it takes to make one. But for my pockets that's a pass from me.

If it's an orange product, it's worth the money. Their machine vices are some of the smoothest operating I've ever used.

Do you think an average Vet A vise user will notice a performance gain from the TiN coated shaft or would you have to be a Pro Vise user to take advantage of the specialty coating
... I would buy it anyway just because of the cool coating even though I don’t Really “need” the cool coating whistling wink

I’m all about saving some old tools, always on the lookout! I hooked a former employee up with an old Reed vise and he admitted to going a little overboard on the resto. Being single though, he put it in his dining room.laughing

A bit tangential, but where are you guys sourcing old vices from? They look bitchin' and I could use one. A restore project would be cool.

Craigslist close to you. Make sure all the parts are there, no cracks or welds and not all slopped out. Swivel base is a must unless it is just going to be used for a specific purpose.

Machine shops. I have 7-8 of them sitting around my shop. Used very rarely. Have 9 newer kurt vises as back ups for my mills. You'd be amazed at what machine shops have lying around and is never used. I even have one of these that i fire up maybe 5 times a year. Runs true as the day is long and its almost 80 years old.
