MEC observations

Here are some things I took away from the race, feel free to add..
Tomac was insanely fast at the end of the 3rd moto
Grant, Friese and Mookie all rode really well
Reed looked the best we have seen in a long time
Savatgy did much better than I expected
Barcia was obviously had MXON hangover
Webb and Baggett sucked
It was awesome to have RV there, his pace shows you the level that everyone rides at now
I won’t get into the Joey / Tomac thing there is already 200 threads about it
A lucky fans life changed I was cheering for the guy more than Tomac
The mini racing was awesome!
Awesome night of seeing the best SX riders in the world go at it

I'm begining to wonder if Bagget is hiding some nagging injury, or if he just feels underpaid/underappreciated lately. He wasn't up in the mix much this last outdoor season which is where he usually shines. Hopefully he can find his mojo soon and start battling for podiums again.

Savatgy, Reed and Fries definitely pulled off fantastic rides, I honestly didn't give them a second thought until the gate dropped. Not down playing the Husky but Reed looked at home on the JGR Suzuki.

Not sure how you can judge Villopoto and say the pace is faster now. If you think he’s nearly as good as he was in his prime then I’m not sure what to say.

The sound of two strokes echoing through the night air brought back good memories.

Oh no I’m not saying the guys are faster or anything, I’m saying since retiring his pace has dropped (and so it should I’m not suprised) he finished about where I expected. Awesome effort for him!

Reed still has some game left, and savatgy is going to be a good surprise for all of us

Suzuki would be crazy NOT to sign Chad right now.

How often is a yellow bike on the box?

I wish they would incorporate the little guys into the night shows at a few SX races. Maybe the triple crown rounds since the schedule favors that smaller brake. Would be cool to see a few times a year.

Reed will fade fast on a full SX race with more passing ops.

What about the riders that did not show up for the MEC?

I like the idea but there is a massive difference between a full blown SX track and the Monster Cup track

And before Saturday night you would have said no way does Reed get a top 3 finish in one of the mains!

Not a hater, just saying the MEC is a one line sprint race, not a real SX race.

Sweet...I'm going to enter the MEC next year. Apparently you don't have to be a fast rider to finish 3rd in a main cause it's just a one line sprint race. I can't wait!!

Hate to be a pessimist, but I think we're going to have a Tomac runaway this season. Musquin and Anderson will be nipping at his heels, the rest will be where they've been.

I haven't liked Savatgy in the past but his speed was much faster than I expected. Hope he can mix it up with Musquin and Anderson.

Musquin was unlucky at MEC. He was fastest in qualifying, 2nd in race one after a bad start, and was heading to the front when he got stuck with Reed in race 2. Then in race 3 Malcom went full throttle into him in the first turn, ending Marv's race.
I feel that Musquin and Roczen are the only ones who can challenge Eli. Anderson will be up there but not at the level where he will beat Eli straight up, which Marv and Ken can do on occasions.

He said In his post race interview that riding with Malcolm has made him faster.

You're right, it was a sprint race on an easy track. Something Chad himself will tell you he's awful at. Yet he got 3rd. It was a good ride, don't be a downer.

Don't forget about Osbourne and Plessinger. They were running similar lap times to the 450s on 250s so they definitely have what it takes to win if they can adapt to the 450s.

First step towards Monster Jam. Seemed to test the waters of predetermined outcomes.
