Let me present you a name that most of you might want to remember for the next few years : Lucas Coenen.
In 2021 and for his first year on the 125 he ended up 3rd in the EMX125 standings, by finishing of the season really strong : he won 5 of the last 6 races.
He made his first step in the EMX250 class this year, and came to second in the points by CRUSHING the competition at the end of the season. Since Lommel, he won 7 out of 8 motos (the only one he didn't won was a dnf) with a very large margin, even on hardpack :
Lommel race 1
Won with half a second on Bonacorsi, but got 35 seconds ahead of Elzinga. He turned a 2.11.298 whil everyone outside Bonacorsi/Elzinga/Farres was a 2.13.
Lommel race 2
Won with 37 seconds over Guillem Farres and 41 seconds on Elzinga. His fastest lap was a 2.08 while everyone else was at best a 2.12.
Swewen race 1
Had a dnf
Sweden race 2
Won with 9 seconds over Osterhagen and 20 over Prugnieres. His fastest lap was a 1.52 and outside of Osterhagen nobody got under 1.54.
Finland race 1
Won with 5 seconds overs Mc Lelland and 13 over Osterhagen. Turning a 1.52 was at least a second a lap faster than anyonr else.
Finland race 2
Won with 21 seconds over Bonacorsi and 42 over Toendel. He turned a 1.52 while the other riders where turning 1.56/1.57 (Bonacorsi had a 1.55)
France race 1
Won by 28 seconds over Martinez and 31 over Prugnieres. His fastest lap was a 1.51 while the other riders where turning 1.53/1.54 (Grau had a 1.52).
France race 2
Won by 24 seconds over Grau and 38 over Mc Lellan. His fastest lap was a 1.52, while everyone was around 1.56-57 (Grau and Mc Lellan had a 1.55).
This yound Belgian is ready for the world championship class. He also got a twin brother Sacha who had a couple top ten in EMX250 this year and almost won a race before crashing.

If KTM/Husq group dont sign them to America they will really regret it. Just like they passed on the laurence brothers. & now farres showin good speed. KTM should be hand picking top talent & shipping them over to US
The Shop
But probably van Doninck would be next in line
They both grew in the summer, and t has helped.
From what I was told, dad wants total control over their training and bike setup, and that is not sitting well
With some guys who write the checks.
But Lucas is damn fast, that kid has some big talent.
Lucas was allways the slower brother, it's been since the 2nd half of the season last year that he got better and more consistent than Sacha. I'm wondering what Sacha will do once he'll get a little bigger.
In the end of the day , when you see their progress every year, they're obviously doing things right...
I remember when they were on 85s they were working with Topsport vlaanderen , i'm not sure but i think Joel Smets was one of the trainers back then. Also Liam Everts and Geerts were in the same program.
Pit Row
He spent the last races just trying not to lose it.
But if you look at the points scored in the last 7 events Toendel only scored 1 win and a 3rd, and was 5th in points scored.
