Can someone explain this to me?

How does a rider make it to Loretta's in 2017 and race, get moved to B class for 2018, run three different regions in B class and fail to make it to Loretta's in B class for 2018, then show up on the 2018 Loretta Lynn's National Roster running C class, never having run a C class race in 2018?

Yes, its a run on sentence for all you scholars.

Déjà vu; I think we had the same thread last year.

It’s Loretta Lynn’s. C and B are full of sandbaggers at every level and nothing is done about it.

but to not even run the first race in the class? So you can race any class you want, then just send money in for a completely other class and make it in... not even being on the Alternate list.. just straight in?

And this kid is not a "Sandbagger" he wont win in C class either. Good kid, rides well just not fast enough to make it in B and not fast enough to win C.

Shouldn't even have a B and C class at Loretta's.
but they do and they have "Rules" to qualify.. Just not sure how this happens.. This seems above and beyond out of the norm for getting in the big show.

Yup, just saying it's pointless. Did you try bringing it to the attention of somebody at MX Sports? Can't be easy to comb through every single person qualifying to see what they did last year or before.

That doesn’t make any sense. Did he qualify in c or b ?

You’re saying a kid has a spot on the National gate that never rode a Regional or even an Area qualifier?

Before you get all bent I bet there is a error or mix up

If the rider was not racing ama sanctioned races during his local season, he can still ride C at Loretta's since there is really no documentation of him riding B locally. This is not new, people will do this until the end of time.

No point in going to Lorettas in the C class in my opinion.

If what you’re saying is true about them riding LL in 17, then they shouldn’t be able to race the C class at LL, ever. It’s my understanding, and I went through this years ago, you cannot ride the C class at LL if you’ve raced there any year prior. Sounds like a mixup that’ll get sorted out, or something is missing...

No, I'm saying he raced area and regional qualifiers in 3 regions in B class. He dd not trandfer to the Nation, his best finish being 21st in 250B at a regional.

But he is now on the official roster in C class without ever having run a C class race. Plus he went to Lorettas last year in C class so he is not allowed to run it again anyway.

I would think it has to be a clerical error but I am only going off the official list.

Who is the kid? If you don't want to out him, text it to me at 919-593-0400. There should be no way for this to happen.

I figured it out. Must be a typo. I'll check tomorrow morning. I bet it was supposed to be Marcus Townsend who was 10th in 450C in his regional

Probably different every year. Last year if you don’t qualify you wife or girlfriend had to sleep with an AMA official to race. Not sure abut 18.

Not sure why it affects you so much that they have B and C classes. It's amateur Nationals, not professional Nationals. Amateur classes would mean classes which are not professional. B and C classes are not professional. I could see someone being confused as to why they have pro sport classes before being upset about B and C classes.

So why bring an issue like this here instead of to the AMA or MXSports who could actually do something about it? It's obviously a mix up. Errors do happen as crazy as it sounds.

I'd even propose a true beginner D class. Loretta's supplies the bikes, then we go down to the local Walmart to pick people who've never thrown a leg over one before.

One lap, first person across the line wins. Could be a good event to bet on too.

No B class? That's where many of the kids are before they get the Geico or Pro Circuit ride.

Agree with your points, though: make them move to A before going pro. Actually: maybe that's the point - if Loretta's was only an "A" race, B riders would need to bump up for pro-level visibility.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter what the classes are called. The same guys are going to enter, the same guys are going to win and the same guys are going to get factory rides.

So how many LL championships or any other championships do you have ? I notice that most people who downplay LLs or any other amateur events are not fast enough to qualify in the first place and are usually at the back of the pack in C class at their local events if they even race at all. I have never gone to LLs but anyone who goes and even wins then good for them because its a tough place to do well so I don't care what class they ride they have accomplished something. Cool

Agreed. It just fixes the problem of sandbagging to collapse everything into one. Also effectively eliminates the "C" class.

What about just the plain old local level stuff... how does a kid that has raced pee wee, minis, etc. Able to sign up for beginner class?

Maybe Dad needs an ego boost?
