What’s your opinion on the crash?
Ricky was super harsh on Lopes, repeatedly, through the replays. I really wasn’t sure what he expected him to do? Lopes was outside and jumped in the outside line, and Shane went middle to the outside and collected them.
That’s my take, didn’t see a thread about it so figured I’d ask.

I don't remember hearing Ricky say anything, but I too thought Lopes was in the wrong. Unless he's blind in the left eye, there's no way he could not have known that McElrath was there. It looked to me like he jumped when clearly he should have slowed down.

It was just an unlucky incident imo, and unfortunately Lopes went down on both of his starts. He actually got off the gate pretty well that night

Ricky did straight up call that as if Lopes was 100% at fault... Idk. Looked like a racing incident to me. The whole thing happened so fast Lopes wouldn't have had time to react.

I thought Ricky was a little unfair on his assessment but then he backed off after they looked at it again later.

Just a racing incident.

The first angle they showed was from the side and it looked like Lopes’ fault. However when they showed the view from the front you could see McElrath come over in his line as he was jumping.
End call-racing incident becuse Shane probably didn’t know he was there

Racing incident, but with that said I watched the rest of the starts very carefully and you can see the experience and lack of experience. The 450 guys on the outside never even thought to triple that section right off the start if they weren't in the lead. Then Lopes went down there again in the LCQ. That experience will come though. I hope anyways.

Agree 100%. What was Lopes supposed to do? Roll the jump and stack up everyone behind him? He was in the air while McElrath was still moving right. Just a first turn racing incident, Carmichael went a little overboard on placing blame.

Can’t really put it on either of them... Shane was in front, gets to choose his line. Lopes held his line and Shane came over on him while Lopes had already committed to the double. Racing incident is the only outcome that makes sense.

Ricky's take on Lopes being at fault was totally wrong, wish he would have backed off after seeing the replay. Oh well. Does seem that the Suzuki Brand Ambassador has been especially critical on the Suzuki riders... .

Anybody have a video of the crash? I have to watch it again. I remember thinking that even a 250 Novice wouldn't have tried to jump in that scenario, but I could be wrong.
