Today I went to work on the bike again. I removed the coil wire from the ECM. I put a dab of super glue on it and stuck it back into the ECM. Kicked it over, started right up. Going to let it cure for a day then proceed the strip down! Stay tuned.
Super glue works, but I would consider using a good, strong, epoxy. Super glue is thin and brittle, and it would be a shame for that wire to back out while you are riding (could be dangerous). Epoxy is awesome stuff, maybe look into it.

OP, you're bringing out the best of people...and this is Vital, Haha. Carry on.
Yes.....i forget that there are still guys that can do this. It’s inspiring me to maybe dig into one. There’s going to be a shit ton of vintage 4 strokes that are rebuilt in about 10 years.

Use some clear RTV Silicone. It's more durable than a CA glue.

Great outcome!!!

Man I always forget about using beer as a diagnostic tool. No wonder I struggle fixing things sometimes.

Good job!

Great read! I'm glad you got the bike running! I'm also looking forward to seeing the bike in good condition again. I hate seeing bikes that have been that neglected.

I would have bought it too, I am a sucker for cheap and not running. I buy cars, trucks and bikes usually looking to make a profit. Most of the time it works out like your deal.

Same thing happened on my 2009. Only I made the mistake of wasting $440 on a new ECU that I probably didn't need after all.

To all those wondering "Where is the build thread?" There will be one! Not anytime soon. It will be a few weeks. I will start one once I get all my ducks in a row first. Stay tuned!
