JS is scary fast but never put him above RC.
You mean the race where he only had to get second to win the MXDN Championship for America when he was 19 yrs old?

answer me this, when did stewart get a perfect season? whe RC retired and on his last year of racing he beat Stewart straight up in all 5 of the races he entered. If he would have kept racing that year he would have easily gotten another MX title.

While I agree with you, it is a mute point.

It's like trying to say that Michael Jordan, when he retired from his second 2-peat ('96 - '98) at the top of his game, that Kobe Bryant (who was in his 2nd season) was greater than MJ. Those careers have been different altogether just like Ricky's and James' has but you can't argue that Kobe is not one of the top 3 players ever.

When all's said and done, I think James will be the #2 rider of all time (wins-wise) and honestly, that's not too shabby. The guy has 84 wins (not counting Sx Lites), which is 5 behind McGrath. But if you took James at '08 motocross perfect season speed, and compared it to Ricky's 2007 speed, I bet Bubba would win but the "what if" game is stupid.

I seriously can't believe you are knocking James' perfect season though. If James only got his because Ricky was retired, did Ricky only get his because there wasn't someone like James? I mean, it is stupid to say that. Carmichael is a bad ass for getting the FIRST 2 EVER PERFECT SEASONS, and James has one also. The feat is obviously difficult if only 2 guys have ever done it in the 40+ years of GP's and AMA races. Think about it.
If you compare them at your suggested year's speeds (('07 and '08) you would have to factor in crashes by Bubba while racing with THE GOAT, it would hamper his win percentage dramatically. I would love to see it anyway, throw in Bell, Howerton, DeCoster, Barnett, etc., etc,. all in their primes on equal equpiment and now you've got a race.

RC won 86.51% of all MX outdoor National overalls (big class). That should make your brain hurt.
His win percentage over Stewart in the big boy MX class is 86.9%. That is higher than his career average, so that demonstrates just how unbelievably dominant he was against Stewart.

He won 79.77% of all MX motos.

He had two perfect seasons, and a third perfect season if you count sweeping all 12 Nationals in 2005.

And we were there to see it !!

1998 RC was a 125 guy, 1999 he rode 125 also while Everts was in the 250 class dumb shit. Also RC got DNF when he rode with Everts.

Does anyone have an updated list with Chad Reed winning round 3 of the 2012 AMA Supersoss? I know Stewart was ahead of him just barely by one win I believe. If someone can post a new list I'd appreiate it. Thanks.

That's funny you say that. RC was labeled the GOAT because he dominated the outdoor nationals with wins and championships, but he won supercross races and a few championships. Yes, he is a bad dude and the most recent one to win in this fashion, but the nickname GOAT does not carry over into supercross, when another rider has that many more wins than he.

As the AMA win list's read right now:
RC would be the KING of MOTOCROSS
and
McGrath would be the KING of SUPERCROSS

But what's going to happen when someone passes RC win list in motocross or MC win list in supercross or both of them in both series? What nickname will this guy be labeled? KING, GOAT or will there have to be another king of the hill label?

I don't believe any racer or sports figure can be labeled "The Greatest of All Times", until the end of time or at least till the end of the sport and there's no one left to challenge the records.

That's how I feel.
Carmichael has dominated all his career, including his time in the amatuer ranks, and that my includes several years of domination. Just think of all the amatuer phenoms that fizzled, unfortuneately some by injury. Nobody has kicked ass anywhere near the level he has for their full racing career. Even that Villopoto guy couldn't beat Alessi in the amatuers, well according to Tony anyway.Wink

Nevermind I just found it! Doh. It's crazy to think James Stewart only has 13 more wins then Chad Reed overall with lites and supercross class combined. Only 1 win ahaed of him now In the supercross class with Reed's win at round 3 over the weekend. I would have though James would be much further ahead of him then that. Just goes to show how much of a Badass Chad Reed really is. Wink

Hey Kongols. Thanks for posting the list. It took me forever to find it. I know it's total wins SX & Lites, which makes it more impressive to me that James is not further ahead of Reed. It's only 1 win in the Supercross class difference. I'm a Reed fan and respect James for his talent but stat wise Reed is Almost as good as James it looks like in SX. I think they are both tied with 2 SX titles a piece right. I just always hear people say how much better James is then Reed. Statistically wise Not So Much is all I'm trying to say. Just my opinion that's all. To each their own.
