That’s what I was feeling too. It felt too perfect. Like maybe it was just because I was warmed up. The way it felt on bike sharp faces, square edge bumps. I feel like the shoot outs understate how good the bike is. Light and you can turn anywhere. Crazy good

No I didn't notice a difference in length. The Honda sits lower though. I'm a bigger guy so the added height is welcome. Side by side I'd say the Honda is 3 inches lower than the KX.

Question, I have had mine for a few months and today it wouldn’t turn over (made no noise at all when hitting the electric start) and it wouldn’t roll off. I checked tha battery and it had no charge. Would that Prevent the bike from running (by rolling off).
Anyone else having issue's with the battery in here? Not sure what a new battery costs , but lasting only 2 month's doesn't sound good. Wondering if you could get a better quality , after market brand which may hold up better?

Nope, I’ve had mine since June. Almost 28 hours with no problems.

Motodude47 how are you liking the FMF system?
Haven't had the chance to try it out yet. Sounds mean as hell but I'll report back after I ride with it.

This last week we had to pull the battery to charge it. In the manual it says it will need to be charged if you go 10 days without riding. It was cold here in Wisconsin and with going to the MXON I hadn't had a chance to ride for awhile. Charged the battery and it started right up and ran perfect. I read somewhere Decoster put a ktm battery in Tomacs bike at the MXON after the KX battery over heated. Maybe that's an option.

Has anyone here went from a well set up 17-18 Husky or KTM 450 to the 19 KX450 and been happy with the switch?

Do you use a lithium specific charger of just a battery tender? I’ve been told it will charge ok if you keep it under 2 amps.
They also said to only charge it for a few hours with a regular battery tender. You can put it back in the bike to charge it the rest of that way.

FYI your bike will not run at all if your battery dies. It has to have battery power to run.

There's an OEM spec one I bought it to have it, think it was $60.

Question for you guys, do you have to have an oem shock adjustment wrench to set your sag? I have a couple from other bikes, not sure if they would work? I’m out of town, want to get one ordered if it needs a specific one. Thamks!

You can turn it by hand. Also turn the clamp so you can get to the allen bolt between the frame and nitrogen reservoir. Really easy.

Sweet, thanks for the reply! I've been turning my ktms adjustor by hand for a while, glad to hear that trick works on this bike!

What Octane of pump gas are you using? Owner's manual for the 16 says minimum 90, the 19 says minimum 95.

US rates octane differently than the rest of the world (we use AKI, they use RON), it sounds like they listed RON in the manual. 95 RON is approx 91 AKI.

I've been running 93 or 91 depending on what they have at the pump. I've only heard knock if you really lug it.

Look on eBay or maybe Google for an A&P sheet / manual. It is more than 10 minutes.

You know damn well time sheets for work are over estimating time it actually takes to do the work. It adds slack time for possibility of difficulty say an older bike with rusty bolts for example. I was raised in an auto shop and am very familiar with how that works. The techs aren’t going to sit with a stopwatch. If you’ve done the work yourself you know it takes nowhere near the time to do what the shops quote you. They typically charge you at a minimum one hour just for dropping your bike off. I get it, it’s a business and that’s how it works. Not hating but I will still say if I’m paying a setup fee I shouldn’t have to tear the bike down and redo everything myself as soon as I get it home.
You stated "10 minutes of work". Here is an A&P manual from eBay.

Show me one human who can do all that in 10 minutes. This thread is about a Kawasaki product. The Kawasaki company requires certain practices of their dealerships. One of those is to follow the Assembly & Preparation sheets. Kawasaki does not do it however it was done in the auto shop in which you were raised. Kawasaki does it the Kawasaki way.

My previous bike before the 19 KX450 was a 2016 KTM 450 Factory Edition which is a 2017 KTM. I spend $3,500 on spring Cone Valves for my KTM.
When I saw the KX had A Kit style spring forks, Hydo clutch, and e-start I gave it a try. To me the KTM had all these things when the Jap bikes didn't so I was willing to pay more for the KTM, It's nice to not pay 10K otd for a dirt bike.
I really liked my KTM, but these new KX 450 are the real deal.
KX forks fell as good to me as my Cone Valve
The KX feels light to me, I think it's because the motor is quick to rev and it's narrow
KX brakes are good but not Brembo good
KX e-start starts it right up
KX air filter isn't that hard to change, easier than when you had to take off the seat on these jap bikes
If I had to buy new again today, It would be the KX over the KTM, and that would be a pretty easy decision to make for me
KX is just more fun to ride to me

Hope this helps!
