after watching MXGP today, it just cemented my thoughts that Red Bud on Friday sucked for racing! I'm not sure if its because of the way they prepped the track or what, but there was hardly any passing on Friday. Both classes in MXGP scratched that itch for good racing for me.

Sorry but not sorry, the US series is nothing compared to MXGP right now. All of those guys are going for it, while we have maybe 4 guys between both classes

Let's just be happy with any racing we get to watch. The emx125 track didn't look very good to me. Getting ready to watch the MXGP's. Yes, if you race 1 discipline, you are going to refine your talent. They are ALL fantastic in their own ways.

Prepare for the backlash. People love red bud so how dare you comment on what you saw while watching the race

I thought it looked pretty beat in the 1st motos. Looked a lot rougher then I thought it would of been for those two races. The downhill braking bumps and acceleration chop looked big already. Maybe that had something to do with them not ripping it as deep.

The only complaint I heard from riders was how fast it was. I don't think it maybe got as rough as normal.

From my side of the banners, it looks pretty much exactly like any normal weekend at RedBud.

I’m just happy to have some racing during this pandemic. The outdoor series almost didn’t happen. Big Thnxz to DC & all involved that made it happen !

I enjoy both nationals and mxgp. I just love watching guys ride their heart out on a dirtbike, and they do in both series.

I thought it was a battle royale in both classes. Could it be you are a Ferrandis fan?....even then.... I thought it was exciting as hell watching him come through the pack after he rang his bell and got a bad start. I don’t know what you like to see in motocross but I thoroughly enjoyed that race.... And contrary to you, I hope Redbud two has much of the same!

Maybe the powers can see how good and close the racing in Italy was. Smaller track with tighter corners made the riders be very consistent in lap times. Both were great and ready for more of the same.

I thougjt the racing was amazing.

Seriously, some of you guys could suck the fun out of anything... if it started raining hundred dollar bills, people on here would complain they arent accepted at the local store.

Have to agree they need to make it slower and more difficult for better racing. If you re watch race they are just full gas seating down. Just watch todays GP and you understand. Downvotes engaged.

I just feel that there is a very fine line with tracks to make it so you can pass a slower rider by taking alternate lines. This track had different lines but they didn’t allow for passing unless a rider was way faster than the one in front of him. So the track lent for close racing but not passing since guys got stacked up behind each other.

I tend to prefer the cream rising to the top. Osborne and JMart started in front and won. That’s doing what needs to be done given the circumstances

well i though was the best looking prepped USA track ive seen in a long time, was only half slot car racing and seeing some dust 1st moto was great imo. being able to actually square up a corner doesnt happen often nowdays

I was at Red Bud on Friday and the track was great. It was rough but the top guys were all running about the same lap times.
Tim may make a couple of changes to the layout for Monday, we'll just have to wait and see. Rain is in the forecast tonight so that alone will bring some changes tomorrow. It should be another exciting day at Red Bud!!

It did seem that it was a hard track to pass on, especially compared to Ironman, but I don't know what could be done about that. It certainly makes it better for one-on-one racing.

Same here. I fell asleep watching the MXGP race. The only "passing" I saw was Prado fading from 1st to 6th in the last 4 mins.

I thought both races had some pretty good racing. Second MXGP moto had the top 5 within 5 seconds of each other with only a few laps left, that was very exciting in my opinion.

Too many 180's in american mx, it has become a drag race to the next 180. Supercross influenced. It needs more flow as in a road race circuit. Although i have thoroughly been enjoying the races this year and thought they had some good battles thus far.

Did you miss Barcia going from 38th to 6th? Or Cianciarulo 12th to 5th, Sexton 7th to 3rd, Tomac 9th to 4th, Hampshire 10th to 2nd, Ferrandis passing 36 riders over 2 motos, Martin 4th to 1st?

Looks like a fair bit of passing action to me. If anything what you're claiming is more to do with how close the talent is than track design.

Weege said it best - redbud is the favorite track of like 75 percent of the field. That means the field steps it up for this race more so than others and means it’s harder for elite guys to make passes in places they normally would.

I just watched the 450 mains. No one could get close enough to Osborne to try to pass him. AC and Barcia battles the whole 2nd moto. Sexton somehow made an outside pass on Musquin. Sexton and Tomac almost caught AC and Barcia at the end of moto 2. Pretty good race to me other than the winner running away with 1st.

I was confused by this topic because when I was watching the race I was thinking the track looked really wide and there were so many places to make passes. I felt like everyone could go fast and it didn't really favor a certain riding style .

I grew up riding and racing Red Bud in the late 80’s to mid 90’s. The facility has always been top notch. Track used to be big and fast back then but it was more hard pack in areas and not much sand at all it was their natural dirt with a bit of natural sand. It was also a bit slower back then and more tight and narrow. Ruts formed naturally and were hard and rough and deep. Now the sport has evolved and so has the track. It’s now really wide everywhere and has opened up to a faster layout. It’s mostly a sand track now which develops different than it used to. It gets rough but it’s a choppy rough not a rolling round deep braking rough. Jumps are big and safe and the track is as good as it’s always been. Just different. I do think it has become too fast in areas, so maybe they could slow it or tighten it up in some sections. If they do that it will be great. Still an awesome facility and the Staff there cares and does an amazing job.

Great track but it did look hard to pass. I noticed that right away and it never really changed.

Sure, there were passes made but it seemed that one line was by far the best.

The MXGP announcers are painful to listen to compared to Weege & GL though. They are very boring and monotone, zero excitement or emotion. They come off lost and looking for words.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard RedBud and sucked in the same sentence. The track and the racing was awesome. I’d love to spin some laps at Red Bud
