I thought Diffy was terrible in the booth last year? You guys like him? Wasn’t a huge Ralph fan but I’d rather see Weege with RC than Diffy.

Diffey is a pro and will kill it. On top of that he's a dirt bike guy through and through, going back well over 20 years now.

Weege is great also but Diffey has so much experience in so many disciplines of motor racing and announcing as a whole.

The guys at Feld hate Weege because he’s the motocross announcer (in my opinion), and Feld desperately wants to make sure people view supercross as priority 1 and motocross as priority 2. Weege is the best announcer available, and the fact that they actively choose to avoid him is mind boggling to me.

Ralph was terrible. I don't mind DIffy. Weege and Langston are awesome. I miss the Art Eckman David Bailey days.

You're not completely wrong with this take IMO. If there ever was going to be a time to bring Jason in as the announcer for SX it would be now, as both races are NBC property. The fact that it isn't happening makes me think it will never happen and that for whatever reason, Feld does not rate Weege as worthy. I do wonder if him doing so many other smaller gigs maybe hurts his appeal to the execs, like "we don't want a guy who calls quad races being our voice".

I think Diffey will be fine, I liked him last year. But Weege is next-level in how embedded he is in the sport. To me the announcer has to be able to carry the program, call the race and know the stats. The analyst/color guy is there to provide race relevant insight, opinion and technical info. Weege can pull out results from years gone by in his sleep, and he can talk enough about the racing to get close to offer opinion, but then he throws to the analyst (GL or Emig in outdoors for example). That line as an announcer is difficult to walk, and Ralph would occasionally wobble off it.

Diffey is okay. He understands the sport, knows what is going on with the riders, and he won't make a lot of the errors that Ralph got into at times.

Diffy is awesome. Todd Harris is gonna be the one everyone complains about. Rewatch some ‘04 races and you’ll see why.

I remember last time Diffy did SX and thinking I wasn't going to like him, I was wrong. He did an excellent job and made you think he had been announcing SX for years. He did his homework and was up to date on all the riders, he's so much better then Ralph imo who has been in SX for years and has been constantly making mistakes especially in the last few years it seems. Diffy just seemed to bring the sport up a notch by his professionalism in the booth.

I could listen to Weege all day about any topic. He's seriously talented. I thought Diffy was fine last year, he will be great. RC got to be pretty good last year. Kind of screwy but lets see what happens.

I think Diffy is great. I’m more stoked on Todd Harris though.

Weege is a very talented broadcaster and speaker and I’m really not trying to sound negative but I wouldn’t really want to listen to weege all winter and summer on tv as well as on multiple different podcasts and the racerX videos.

Good point, Weege is great but too much Weege might be overkill. I'm just stoked to get anybody else in the booth besides Ralph. By all accounts a really good guy, and by most accounts a pretty bad supercross announcer. I guess we'll never know what tipped the balance at Feld.

Maybe Feld's top brass eventually noticed the countless vital threads with a high percentage of the opinion going one way. A smaller percentage seemed to legitimately like Ralph's style, fair enough, and there were usually a bunch of complainers complaining about complaints. My personal favorite was the inevitable "I have the sound turned off anyway"... whatever floats your boat I guess but that one always struck me as purposefully stupid.

My top 3 of current announcers:
1. Malin
2. Weege
3. Diffey

Why SX goes with third? The other 2 are already a symbol of the competition (MXGP, Nationals) and maybe Diffey is a better mainstream announcer.

Let's be honest neither Ralph nor Emig were good, they'd not last a season at NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL. Good for NBC and Feld to try something different and trying to improve.

To me,
Diffey was so much better.
and being an Aussie, was good to hear him commentate and myself be able to hear things clear. As well as have actual knowledge behind Motorsports and be a fan in its self.

which surprises me a lot that most people didn't have an issue with his Aussie accent haha

Listening to Diffy covering SX last year made it very much feel like I was watching GPs, his accent is at thick as Paul Malin's, but lacks the energy Malin brings when racing gets intense. I expect the accent watching GPs, or even Canadian MX, but would prefer Weege, and I actually didn't mind Ralph (sorry I am not as hardcore, "hard", or cool as some). I know Ralph puts his foot his mouth a few times per race, but he knows plenty to qualify for the job, and I actually like his energy.

Downvote away, Diffy is not my first pick.
