Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I’m looking for an area west of Peoria/surprise/sun city that is legal for desert riding so my son can learn to ride. I know Canyon MX is near but I want him to get comfortable before we try any tracks

Thanks in advance!

Boulders OHV near Lake Pleasant off 74 is less than a half hour away and has a kids playpen area to get the kido started.

If you want something closer, I can't say it is 100% legal since I am pretty sure it is within Peoria city limits but there are several turn tracks accros the road at the entrance to Canyon that tons of people practice on.

I grew up on the east side so not sure if the white tanks on the west side are still a riding spot or if they have been built over with houses by now, but we used to make the trek out that way and there was good riding out there. Also around Canyon there is off-road riding, I see side by sides and desert guys all the time when i’m in that area. And at the top of canyon raceway is open desert with a “vet track” that I see pee wees and minis on when I hit the track on my way home to see my mom in FH. Some other guys post regularly on here about off road riding in PHX so hopefully they can chime in with more up to date info!

Just got back from a ride this morning. Overcast with a slight breeze.. it was only 95 by 830. lol but it's muggy out. I'm usually out there by 5. We can have have it watered with a little notice.

RJmx393, I sent you a private message. I don't want my riding spot to get blown out. Smile

I used to ride in the hills north of the Vistancia development in Peoria. Lots if interconnecting trails out there.

Another Vote for the Boulders OHV. There are some fun hillclimbs back there and some challenging single track. Watch out for Side by Sides on the main trails.

If you're in the West Valley I know people used to ride out by the Haasyampa

Man I’m getting ready to sell my stuff because subdivisions are popping up fast everywhere I used to ride. I rode a lot off Bell and 219th where the power lines are (near White Tanks). Closest place to ride and had enough to keep it somewhat interesting because they started grading a neighborhood and stopped.

Last time I went tho, there was a sign for the subdivision so they might be starting that again. There was a really fun trail across the road but it’s blocked off now too..

There’s lots of trails off N Castle Hot Springs Rd/Trilby Wash but I’ve always had sketch experiences. Trying to find our way back in the dark, catching a storm, random horses, a donkey, shooters etc. Gotta be careful!
