Did you guys all forget that Ping used to talk mad shit about vital almost daily? On his old racer x videos before he got canned, and even during his early WT podcasts.. he stopped up until guyb gave him the job here at vital. ( does anyone even bother to read his ask ping segment?)

Seems kinda lame to talk mad shit on a community for years then somehow gets hired working for the forum and depends on our views and clicks to pay the bills.

Ping got canned from Racer X so I’m sure that doesn’t help his little man syndrome and having to be cordial with PulpMX since Steve is obviously involved over there.

What could have been if that frame didn’t snap...
This sport is way too small. Every little dust up becomes a big deal.

Having said that, I think all of the media could stand to be a bit more professional. Your example of Ping above is good one. Also Donn Maeda taking shots at Works Connection every time Matthes does a product post, because Donn has some beef with Eric Phipps the owner of WC. That is just so immature, and you'd think a guy like Maeda would understand the concept of not burning a bridge, after having the rug pulled out from under him with Transworld.

In terms of pure professionalism in the main media group, I think Jason Weigandt and Michael Antonovich are by far and away the most professional on all fronts. They focus on the sport and the athletes and keep personal agendas in the background. Matthes is good but he does have issues with always needing to hammer his points home and not knowing when to back down. GL in the broadcast booth is professional, but his social media and Whiskey Throttle stuff is less so. Ping has never really had a professional bone in his body when it comes to media, but since 2016 he's gone all in on expressing his own personal views. Daniel Blair apart from his SX gigs for Feld is a total asshat clown who is actually dangerous with his personal viewpoints. I've never tried his Main Main show because I don't need to pay to get conspiracy theories and crazy far right opinions, they are all over social media for free. Donn Maeda is pretty cringy, always has to have some reference to a "hot moto mom" in his podcasts plus he can't let go of the pinup girl stuff. David Izer and Kevin Kelly at DMXS are OK, maybe stuck in the past a bit with some comments but they don't push personal opinion too heavy. GuyB does a good job of staying on the subject of the sport and is able to write and speak without a lot of bias which I appreciate. I'm not even going to touch Cooksey or Johnny Appleseed or MXA.

EDIT: I forgot about JT$ aka Jason Thomas. JT is very good at walking the line between personal opinion and being professional. If you follow his socials it is fairly obvious where he lies politically but he doesn't let it interfere with his moto life. I think when it comes to understanding the big picture of how everything is connected in the sport, JT has an incredible perspective because he's not just a media guy, but he works in the industry and has to represent a brand, and he was also a successful racer but not a factory guy who always had everything handed to him. Combining all of that gives him the ability to view any situation from many different vantage points and give a balanced opinion.

I have, BTW its great for injuries, although not perfect in other areas, i can always get medical insurance to cover those if i wanted to,

we also don't have go fund me for injured riders, a compulsory insurance scheme covers all costs, incl 80% of your income ,

Socialized medicine vs private, saying you’ve lost complete respect for someone over Twitter? You guys haven’t had enough of politics out in the real world? You know we ride dirt bikes to escape all this stuff right?

Don’t know if anyone else has seen the twitter fight between Langston and Matthes, apparently It stems from some unkind words on the Whiskey Throttle show. Kind of funny GL is upset about Matthes talking politics on PulpMX then goes on to say Whiskey Throttle outperformed Pulp on YouTube like Spotify and Apple Podcasts don’t exist, kind of life a certain politician pretending mail in votes don’t exist.

Tbh I’m disappointed in the pettiness from GL, you know it’s going badly when a former Pro MXer is chirping people on Twitter over their follower count or pfp. Just childish as hell.
I 95% of the time don’t agree with mathes politicaly but I could give a flying rats ass if he talks about politics on HIS show. You don’t like it turn it off. there thread ended. Now shut up and worry the hell about yourselfs. You guys sound like a bunch of 13 year old girls.

This says it all.

The beef between Whiskey Throttle and PulpMX is hilarious. It seems to come from Ping/GL and Steve just defends himself, from my perspective. Both shows serve a completely different purpose and can coexist. If I miss a week of pulp I'm probably not going back to listen. I absolutely love it when it's recent and during the racing season. Whiskey Throttle is preserved history, and can be listened to at any time, really. I could go into more detail but who gives a shit.

People talking down on GL need to calm down a little bit.. like saying he drags down the Whiskey Throttle show, or even that he sucks at podcasting. GL is the comedy on that show. Ping can't really be the comic relief and the guy driving the interview forward, even though he's a funny guy. A podcast without comedy and parts to laugh at is just a waste of time. Taking GL away from the Whiskey Throttle show would make it a yawner. I get that everyone has their flaws. Me, GL, Matthes, all of us. Get over it and enjoy life more.

Dear god, how many times does Matthes have to explain his position on the damn 250 titles? Some of you including Ping and GL are ridiculous. He never said they mean nothing in general, he meant/said they mean nothing when it comes to the transition to 450 careers and how you will do as a 450 rider. He didn't say they mean nothing as just 250 titles.

Moto podcasts have to be funny and entertaining or I stop listening. Currently there is nothing worth following. They are all just doing it for the money. Worse is they post them on youtube. Fucks sake who wants to watch people talk lol.

An absolute resounding yes to your question. As for your unintelligible follow-up sentence, which I think I get the gist of...but don't agree with. I just don't see any future doctors saying, "The profession I want to follow is fucked up, but I'm going to get into it anyway, and when I'm not happy with anything about it, I'll just ignore my hippocratic oath and do shitty surgical work...and I'm not worried about being terminated or losing business because nobody cares if I'm a "shit doctor".

Where did President Trump go for what was called “The best medical care in the world?” Walter Reed Hospital is 100% socialized medicine.

Haven't read the whole thread but below video was referenced in some of the twitter chats. Go to roughly 3:34.00 and listen for a jab at Steve. Oddly it actually starts with Dehoop and the jab is very fair.

Anyways, me personally I couldn't care less what these guys say or think of each other or how their opinions differ from mine.
I thought that was funny and lighthearted. It was also true..

Years ago, there was no insurance, and people made choices, either benefited or suffered consequences of their own choice. Free will etc...society was not responsible, just the individual. different time i know, but if as a nobody, no name guy posted a request for money cause they had no insurance, they would get roasted on this forum...most posts on here about this stuff is as bad as CNN or FOX, definitely dont go there, WTS or Matthes, or here for life advice, or what bike to buy, but if you have info to share about a bike, problem or fix Ill listen. To each their own.

Irony is Pulp and Ping both talk trash on vital mx threads and here we are... keeping everyone involved relevant.

I love both shows btw, both would be elevated by being guests to the other show.

yeah imagine the horrors of going to a hospital in Denmark, Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia or pretty much any other western nation. haha
In Australia we operate with a boomerang because we cant afford scalpels.

I hate to tell you but there are plenty of independent studies ranking countries medical systems.....and the "socialised medicine" systems are generally rated right at the top, not perfect by any means. but ask the people of those countries if they would like to do away with their system, and I guarantee the majority like having their medical system.

You guys can do it however you like. it doesn't effect me. but don't say other systems are shit, when you obviously have zero idea how/if they work.

Love them both, love all content Matthes puts out, gobble it up on my way to work every Tuesday morning, love his arrogant stubborn way, I giggle like a little girl sometimes 😂 but I also love GL, he’s been around, the GP stuff, he’s been at the sharp end of our sport, makes fun of himself and his weaknesses, just a really cool guy. Grateful to have them both 🙌🏻

In my opinion both sides have been a bit petty and frankly fighting like teenage girls. and its a bit of a shame, because they all seemed to be at some points friends or at very least friendly.

But this latest spat really made GL look like a fool in my opinion.

GL went out of his way to tell Matthes that WT was "crushing pulp" (despite Pulp being primarily a podcast with a YouTube channel on the side) then when Matthes replied saying he thought they were cool because they chat at the races GL replies that Matthes is fake.....does he really not see the hypocrisy of that?

Then the Tapia thing was bullshit. Tapia had insurance the 1st injury, and yes perhaps made a mistake not being adequately insured for the 2nd injury, but just pointed out his appreciation for Mattes support, even though they dont agree politically (who knew adults could have different opinions and not hate eachother) and GL has such a hard on for going after any Matthes supporter, he has a crack.

What a flog....fuck, grow up GL

Aussies and Saffas dont hate each other.
I think there is a bit of a friendly rivalry between all of "the colonies" and the UK also.
Plenty of South Africans in Aus, the UK, Canada etc, and visa-versa.

You just have to travel and see that Kiwis, Aussies, Saffas, Canucks and Poms all seem to end up drinking, travelling and having a good time together.

Guess you've never met Larry Wosick's wife Lise. Incredibly humble and wonderful human being. That's a pretty broad brush you paint with, sir.

Mostly people seem to enjoy one another pretty easily if you stick to bikes. Some people can't.

Meh......I’m still good with both shows. Whiskey Throttle is great content. I love it. I also love all things Matthes. The amount of content available makes us the winners in this whole deal. It’s freaking amazing compared to when I was a kid and the only MOTO content was the magazines. I think there was a phone number that you could call for results at some point (it cost money to make the call). Matthes is a Howard Stern guy (sounds like he listens to Stern and holds him in high regard). That style of show lends itself for going after the competition and controversy amongst the media.

The insurance situation in our country is off. I personally saw the system fail when I had insurance, got hurt, then had to fight to get them to pay because the insurance company was working a loophole. Anything we are willing to do to help Tapia is a good thing and what makes our motocross community awesome. We look out for our own as much as possible. There is some shady shit going on with insurance that I hope you all don’t have to see. Sometimes the system just fails....it’s never going to be perfect
Nothing "shady" about his insurance because HE DID NOT HAVE ANY. Not to mention it's not shady if you didn't read/understand the policy you paid for that didn't pay for what you needed at that time. If you don't have collision insurance on your car, they aren't paying for it when you run into a pole.

One way or another, you are paying for it, either through taxes or premiums. I prefer premiums so I can choose the level of care I want and am not forced into paying for it anyway to avoid tremendous wait times and other downfalls. The real answer is to remove regulation altogether and make it free market just like a restaurant. If you don't like the care, find another insurance company that offers what suits you best.

I am not talking crap on Tapia. You should go read my previous comments. He did not have insurance though, so it wasn't a "loophole" which is what was being brought up in the post I quoted. Not sure why you think screenshooting a Tweet is relevant.
