Grant said on DMXS last night that he should be ready for the Glen Helen gate. There is only one problem. He doesn't have a ride yet!

Hoping to work something out with Yamaha, but nothing in writing yet. I know the economy is tough, but that guys deserves a ride.

He has a ride, his credentials allow that...But with whom, is the question.

That is awesome.

Yes he does deserve a ride and a factory ride. He won Yamaha a title. I am thinking they will work it out.

Lot's of guys deserve rides and Grant does too.

I don't think any of the teams argue whether or not, someone deserves it. And Yammie ain't arguing with Grant about his ride.

They are aguing salary.

If Grant wants to race, it's a done deal.

If Grant wants a million five, then maybe he ain't gonna get no ride.

Yamaha would be very foolish not work something out with GL. Smile

Honda should pick him up...I don't think they've got a viable title contender on the team right now...they should replace IT and DM with GL and give themselves a shot at the title (with Short as wing man).

IT should then go to JGR for SX only.

And DM would do well on Factory Connection or San Manuel...

Except I thought it was the San Manuel team itself that didn't want to do the Nationals thing. I could certainly be wrong on that but I thought James wanted to do Nationals but would have to do it on his own. I'm sure someone will help me out on this (one way or the other).

Hard to write off Tedesco, he's the only one there with an outdoor title.

You have to think that Yamaha will make it happen for Langston. He's the first guy that brought the factory team any title success since Doug Henry. Hopefully they come to terms.

He's got Supercross titles too, but how's that working out for him?

I agree, GL deserves it!
Hell even a "Monster" supported deal!
But "Factory" he is to me. Yamaha should
back it up! Say, have a test day.........
Lap times against Hill, Hepler, & GL, & see
what's what. Though I'm a fan of both Hill & Hepler,
the latter has that "bull in a china shop" thing going
on, & "Dyno", his mechanic I believe is still there, so
why not. If not, maybe at least bikes, parts, suspension,
then again, a "Monster" thing! The Honda thing I really
don't see. i don't think their contracts are written in such
a way, where as "IT9", or "DM18" are replaced due to a lack
of "call it what you want" . But for GL, if his times are good,
then why not?

Dave O Dave O Dave O.

Let me let you in on a little secret.......lap times don't mean shit.

Especially in the case of a rider like Langston. Langston is a bull and he's a pusher. His lap times could be off until they drop the gate but by the time the checkers come 35 minutes later he'll be fast.

Check the SX series point standings for a more detailed analysis on lap times.

Jus' sayin'.

It's all about the salary, not about reality.

Can Langston even be a top 10 guy? Yamaha should give him a ride but it depends on how much $$$ he wants. I would bet it's going to be alot!! Grant is a really nice guy and I can't wait to see what he does!!

Good interview last night.
He'll know in two weeks HOW MUCH Keith/Yami can help.

I'd love to see a Grant have a yami factory supported deal of his own with Hamlin & Mitch Peyton on board.

Grants been out of the game for almost two years (a year and a half I guess)...he, just like Townley, probably need to remind the factories why they deserve the big bucks. And best shot they have at that is to take a lower salary on the best equipment/team they can get on...have a solid year on a solid team earning a bit less money...and then they'll get their big dollar deals back.

He should only have to prove fitness. The guy has a freaking outdoor title and world mx titles for Fk sake. I expect Yamaha to come to the table. They'd be stupid not to if he was 100%

I hate to say it but if it were me sitting on the other side of that bargaining table I would be thinking about how the guy just had to take off 2 years because of the freak health issue.

It would make me wonder if GL is a safe bet to stay healthy on his own.

There is no doubt the guy has skills but if he can't make it to the line then what good is that.

I wish it wasn't an issue but my gut feeling is it will be.

"jndmx".........

I don't think any are saying lets roll out the "Brinks" truck!
But again, anything can happen, that's a fact.
Anything can happen to others as well.
But again, evaluating the situation, in the field, through
testing, training, as the time goes on may just tell the
tale of the tape.........!
Also, though I've been around him to see him "tough it out"
through other issues, this is different big time!
Since it's a "vision deal", I don't think he'd try anything less
than feeling 100%. Shoulders, backs, etc., are one thing.
Vision, or lack of it 100%, is just to dangerous.
A "Champion" & a fighter he is, a stupid racer, no way!

AMA should have a Langston rule.Any past champions who werent able to defend their title within 2yrs should run #1 with a blue background.Smile
