I have a Kx 144 that just blew up a after 4 hrs on a full rebuild. I had coolant in it (engine ice) and It had oil. But the piston is curled up around there top edges and it looks like it started to blister. Anybody know what happend? The head cylinder and piston were all new. From Eric gorr

Don't guess you saw the last thred a few weeks ago about his quality work.......

Well Eric Gorr should be able to tell you but there have been multiple stories lately with bad motor work. Several years back he built 2 of my friends bad motors that blew up within hours.

I would use Terry Varner, Lynks or someone more reputable.

we built a number of kx144 and 153's a few years ago, and they were always a nightmare to jet to stop detonation, what jetting changes did you do after you put the 144 in?

I didn't make any changes. The previous owner already had it set up. The piston that was in it lasted me quite a while. But when it blew it scarred the cylinder I sent the cylinder and head in he rebuilt both, and sent it back with a piston. I put it all together, did the break in process and ran strong for about 4 hrs.

i use two cylinder gasket (athena top end gasket kit) on my 134 Rm, did you try 2 cylinder gasket?
My jetting is also a lot richer (520 # over 370 # stock).
I use stock wiseco piston, not modded one.

I'm sure you had some sort of intake leak and it leaned it out. Did you replace the seal behind the stator?

Trying to diagnose engine failure without pics is a pipe dream.

If it ran fine before you did the top end, i think its safe to say you didnt do the top end correctly. If one of the retaining clips for the wrist pin wasnt installed correctly that would do it.

Better not have ran pump gas in a hopped up motor like that either.
