What the hell ever happend to kidney belts? I used to wear one everytime I raced or even rode my bike. why?.... I was told it would help me later on in life. I notice that barely any pro wears one now.

I wear a kidney belt every time I ride... still. They are supposed to keep your guts from shaking by keeping tension on your mid section. I never really notice this but I do like the support they give to my lower back.

The article is good and the photos...

I always wear one. Then again, I also wear custom fit knee braces, a leatt, and a full chest protector along with the normal gear.

I wear mine more for the lower back support than anything else. I've noticed that it really helps keep my lower back from getting stiff and sore.

I have not worn a kidney belt for over 15 years, no difference noted.

I always wore one, then gave it up for awhile. Now there is one built into the EVS Ballistic Jacket that I wear, so I am back on board.

I rock the 6 pack instead... seems to make more sense for all forms of riding Cool

My father still rides, and he runs a bit of a one pack these days, so he says the kidney belt keeps the jiggling down to a minimum which can cause some pain I guess.

I've always worn one. I took 7 years off between 01 and 08 and when I bought my bike I also bought all new gear. I remember the blank look I got when I asked their gear guy where the kidney belts were. He looked at me and said "What's that?" I said Kidney belts, where are they? He then , after playing it off for a minute informed me that he in fact had no idea what a kidney belt was. They ended up having 2 in stock that fit 7 yr olds. I ordered one from online..lol

My dad always wore one, so I did too. I still wear it because I feel like it keeps my lower back and kidneys from getting sore.

wearing kidney belts help the discs in your lower back from degenerating. the pressure helps keep your spine in-line and gives you better form. I had a herniated disc from lifting weights and the only way i can ride is if i wear a kidney belt for my lower back. night and day difference.

I always wear one for the lower spine protection. Chest protector and a good wide belt with plastic. Might be the difference between walking and sitting in a wheel chair.

I always wear one with a plastic back.

Other than support for my not so six pack, Ive seen what a footpeg gouge can do to someones lower back.

They are awesome as a substitute for tape when you break a rib or two as well...

OH YEAH! I rock a 16Gal kegger with two 24oz. glasses right above it ( titties ) and cant find one to fit me! Naw, I do have a kegger, and I do wear one occasionally, and I feel it help keep stuff from bouncin around ( that shouldn't be ) and it makes me feel safer for some reason?

I wear one to keep my inards from bouncing and vibrating and bruising, and weather i'm on my sled or bike if I don't wear it ,I'm noticeably sore the next day,so all I know is it keeps your abs ,lower back and kindeys in check for a more comfortable day after..
