I hate it when lappers get in my way at the practice track. Don't they know who I am!? Ken Roczen, I feel your pain, brother. Hang in there.

Ken seemed to have a problem with the jump and slowed, Tonkov was jumping it and aiming for the fast line outside where Marvin jumped , once he committed and in the air nothing to do. Ken was 3-4 bikes lengths ahead of him and pulling away going up the hill, he should have been out of the area and already into the corner behind Marvin. why did he lose so much time on the last jump and cross sideways in the landing area?

not sure how anyone could blame the lapper on that one. Roczen simply didnt do the double and got ran in to. Was nothing the lapper could do.

Musquin put on a late charge to snatch the win with a slight gap over the battling Roczen and Heerlings with Shain Simpson an excellent fourth, but it looked like young German Roczen was in place to steal the second moto and overall victory as he stalked leader Musquin in the closing stages. The pair of them struggled to make their way past the lapped Aleksandr Tonkov but, crucially, once past, Roczen would have a moment coming out of the turn before an uphill triple. With the lack of drive, Ken could only double his way up the hill, and Tonkov, tripling behind the two leaders, would spear into Roczen’s Suzuki at the next corner, putting both of them on the ground, breaking off Roczen’s footpeg in the progress, and handing the win to Musquin on a plate. Heerlings would take second, Roczen would finish sixth for third overall, whilst Simpson had a crash-hit moto and would end up 21st.

Glad they are ok. Funny though how the dude that hit him how his bike went straight up and down and then he went to go sit down for a sec before he realized he better get back in the race Smile

Tonkov did move when he got a waving blue flag he could notice, there was a guy holding a blue flag about 3 corners before but they were past the line of vison before he could wave it and make sure they could see it. Tonkov was just passed by 3 riders but was still in points but slowing

That made me laugh. :D

Anyway, a frustrating turn of events in the race, and not at all fair for Roczen to have his race ruined like that. But that's what it was, a frustrating and unfortunate turn of events, not exactly a part of Tonkovs evil agenda. Yes, Tonkov was lapped and this sort of thing shouldn't have to happen between the race leaders and someone who's being put a lap down, but you can't put all of the blame on Tonkov here. Had Tonkov been in 3rd, racing just behind Roczen and Musquin and this happened, I don't think people would be so quick to put all of the blame on him. (see bottom of post)

What I'm saying is, it sure as hell was unnecessary of him to go for the triple there on that lap, but he was dedicated for it and surely didn't expect Roczen to only double his way up. It's not like he went for a bloody blockpass on him or something, he was just unfortunate enough to end up in his arse after Roczen made a slight mistake.

Backmarkers will always be there in circuit racing, it's just the way shit goes. $500Guy might think that the GP only has people being lapped on the final few laps of a race because people completely lacking talent buy their way into the GP (at least this is what he seemed to suggest in another thread about this incident) but have you seriously ever seen any motocross series or race where people do not get lapped?

Edit: Just watched it again through the clip above (hadn't seen it since I watched it on Sunday) and I must say, Tonkov was a whole lot closer than I remembered it, and it was quite obvious that Roczen wouldn't triple his way up there, at least from our point of view. Yeah, I will agree, that was pretty stupid of him.
