Anyone else experience poor resale on Kawasaki's? I have a '19 KX450 with 45 hours. Very clean condition, needs nothing, all stock, minus after market seat cover, skid plates, rotor protectors, etc. and have been trying to sell it for the past 2 months. I have listed it nearly 500 less than most every other ad of the same size and model year within 2 hours of me currently. I have slowly lowered the price over the past 2 months to where it is now. I get the average inquiry but nothing serious.

Had ZERO problems selling my 2020 YZ250f, kids '18 CRF150RB, kids '17 KX85 and youngest's crf110. I have been selling ATVs and snowmobiles for years and a few bikes over the last year and a half since getting back into the sport. Never had an issue like this.

Just curious if KX resale value is so low in all regions or if this is something inherit to Southwestern Ontario. Almost feel like I'm giving the bike away at this point. Just surprised. Is it guys not wanting a 450 or not wanting KX's?

Maybe every other ad was asking more than $500 too much. The only thing I've noticed is that the electric start (which you obviously have) models are going for much more than the kick versions.

What's the price and do you have pics?

Used 450 MX bikes can be a hard sell. Most racers want a new bike and they are a hand full as off road bikes or inexperienced riders. Kids bikes are the easiest bikes to sell across any brand. I don't think that its a Kawasaki is the reason.

What’s the asking price? You can get new 22 kx450 in my area OTD for $8,659

6900 keep in mind that is Canadian currency. A brand new KX450 in Canada is going to run over 12k with tax. Least expensive '19 KX450 on Kijiji. Its not all beat to shit or anything.

I would post a link to the ad, but not sure if that is against the rules here. Happy to private message though.

If it had yellow plastic, there would be no reason to sell it.

I think it’s more that 450s are hard to sell. People fast enough to really utilize a 450 also are likely to want a new one, resulting in lower used pricing as the buyer pool just isn’t that deep. It’s also end of season for much of the northern hemisphere and the global economy is shaky.

I was wondering if the timing (nearing end of season) has something to do with it. Have had tons of views. Around 600 views in 2 weeks. I did recently re-post it with a lower price again though.

True enough Wink

That said, I would have no issue running a Suzuki again. I raced an '93 RM125 in the Intermediate class back in the day before moving over to CR's for both 125 and 250 Intermediate class. Just wish they were a bit more technically up-to-date these days.

Two people I know have 21s here in Ohio listed at 6500. Clean and well maintained too. I've noticed this about kaw as well.

I was a big time Suzuki guy, until it came time to sell it. Most dealers told me no on trade it, wouldn’t even give me an offer. I had my 20 for sale for 3 months before I sold it for 4000. Bike was perfect, had a salesman tell me it was the cleanest used bike he had ever seen.

People were buying roached out 5 year old bikes for thousands more, because the plastics were a different color.

I couldn’t sell my 17 crf450 simply because it didn’t have a button. And this was during the covid rush.

Ad doesn't look terrible... I'd put the stock seat cover back on if possible and detail it a bit better.. but it doesn't look roached. And I would also delete the lines about the plastics in the first paragraph. good luck with the sale...i'm sure someone will come along eventually.

Bummer. I sold mine in 2 days for the asking price. Put 11 hours on it, didn't cost me anything but a few oil filters and oil. Got 200 more than I paid after I spent some time cleaning it.

Thanks. I actually added that line because I had a few people ask why there were new plastics, as if I was trying to cover up / hide a huge get off or something. Figured I would save people asking and replying the same (I think 3 or 4 times I had to explain that I sold them to a friend who has a 21 KX250.

Unfortunately I do not have the stock or previous seat cover anymore. It was a green and black ribbed Guts which was stained pretty good from a few mud rides that would never come thoroughly clean. It really could use a graphics kit but I haven't wanted to spend anymore money on it, because Im not sure it will actually make a difference.

But you are right, probably could use a more thorough going over, I just haven't been able to motivate myself to care enough Sad but I get it.

Well you know what they say, everything is bigger in Texas, sounds like that means the population of buyers willing to pay asking price Smile

Over here in Alberta that thing would be long sold. People are still asking 9-11k for literally any 450 with the easy button.

Sold both of my 21 Kaw 450 relatively easy.
Both had 40 + hrs. One for $6800 and the other one today for $6500. Both were spotless, I scrub the frame and engine with brilo pad every wash. Kaws look like shit very easily. I get decent deals on bikes plus some team green money and buy every year. I’m ok with losing junk of Money on resell.
This sold today.

I definitely see more low hour Kawi's for a decent price more than other bikes.

Bikes don’t really seem to be moving at all near me, regardless of the color. Think a lot of people are hesitant to fork out that much cash at this time.

Super clean bike! Is that the flo-green plastics or factory colour?

Yeah it's making the prices come down near me. Plus the new models just came out. Hopefully they drop a little more so I can scoop up a low hour 350
