Hey guys,

Im sure this question has been asked, but I could not find it in the search.

Question, we have a 2017 KX 85 14-16 wheels, I recently got a nice pair of big wheels ( 16-19 ) from a KX 100.
Some people say I need to run the KX 100 swing arm, others say you can run the bigger
wheels wit the stock 85 swing arm ...................???

It would be great to hear from people that have done this as I am getting mixed answers.

Thanks

Big wheel swingarm is ~3/4" longer. Also the linkage knuckle is 3mm longer. That is the only two things I am aware of that are different other than chain length. Just slide the fork tubes down flush on the front.

Thanks for that information. Maybe I asked the question wrong, I am wondering If the big wheels (16-19 ) will fit on a stock 85 bike, and if anyone has ran the big wheels with the smaller ( not KX 100 ) swing arm.

There has to be someone ? Anyone ?

Thanks

I have a both a KX100 big wheel and a kx85 small wheel in the garage. I'll try it once it cools off a little out there.

YES, the KX 100 frame is a tad bit longer, you can see the difference between them wher the gas tank bolts up front.
I dont think that will affect running big wheels.

I am pretty sure they will fit, I am wondering about just swapping wheels sizes out and leaving 85 swing arm and linkage.
Has anyone done this ? How does it handle ?

Thanks

I don't think it will work. There will be very little, or no, clearance between the rear tire and the swingarm/mud flap with a BW on a SW bike. I just took a tape measure to mine and it's so close I'm not going to bother actually trying it. If you rode any mud at all I think it'd pack solid in seconds. And even if it fit I think it'd jack up the handling.

Thank you for checking on that.

I am looking for a KX 100 swing arm and linkage 2014 and up.
Let me know if anyone has one, or knows of a good place to get a used one.

Thanks

Resurrecting this old one - I just moved the wheels, swingarm, and rear brake setup from our 2012 Kx100 BW to our 2018 Kx85 SW. It was a straight swap. Dogbones are same length. Easy. Anyone want to buy a KX100 small wheel? Great shape. 10oz Steahly + handguards. 60 hours on it.
