I was at red bud and there were a tonne of kx 450's that blew up
Bikes I saw were Desalle, Medaglia, Tomac, Searle. Probably a few more, what it is with that?
Was wondering the same thing absolutely gutted for them all because they were having great rides and you know they could feel their bikes going away from them. Was thinking oversized radiators may have helped but it did not look good for the mean green machines yesterday.
Ferrandis mentioned that in his second race he had to babysit his bike because the radiators got stuffed with sand/dirt and it started smoking.
Maybe the Kawi riders who had issues didn't heed the warning signs and gave it all.
Running any bike in the mud is hard on the motor. Especially highly hopped up race engines. I believe a couple KTMs died as well.
Before dogging a bike, lets look at the bikes off the showroom floor. Theres an entire thread of owners saying how great their 19 kx450 is. Assuming the one you buy is remotely close to one raced at mxon is ignorant as hell. You spend $20,000 hopping up your motor on any brand and stuff the radiators and electrical plugs with sand and mud and see how long it lasts.
Don’t sure if factory kawi eu had been running the new bike all year or not , but it was not a good look for sure. A number of other bikes blew as well , tough condition to keep the radiators clear

Desalle was on a '18 KX450F and so was Medaglia. Tommy Searle was on a 2018 that they rented from someone, and brought some part. Tomac was the only one on a 19 and they had an electrical or fuel pump problem on Saturday (note, the wheel wasn't locked, engine was free) and no problems on Sunday for them.
I'm pretty sure we can find a bike of every brand that had problems at this race. Jacobi's Husqvarna had problems, Calvin's Honda went bang at least once...

Desalle smashed a hole in his water pump cover after taking sewer out. That’s what paulin said

There was only one ‘19 there and it had an electrical failure. I️ saw plenty of bike of all brands smoking and several have failures. It happens.
Even this little dude was bummed.

MAN! EXCELLENT POST and thought. That makes me want to go back and check. I see the comment from another poster about Lopes, but as far as what was shown during the races...
AHHHH!!! I just remembered, Pastrana! That is one more.

4 blown up kawasakis would be 936 pounds (not including mud) which is only 42.4% of a metric ton.
4 yamahas on the other hand...

There was one other guy on a 19.
It seemed like every bike was steaming at one point during the weekend. I walked through the pits on Sunday morning after the B main, and I saw some of the plugged radiators first hand, they were completely blocked with dirt.
