I heard a rumor a couple days ago about the Southwick National that is really intriguing but haven’t seen anything here or anywhere else. Maybe it’s BS but if it’s true it could be great news. I know a lot of people, myself included, who are really bummed the ‘Wick is off the outdoor national schedule and would love to see it back where it belongs.
What I heard was that Kevin Windham and a good friend of his are not happy about it either so they have partnered up to try to bring Southwick back for 2014. KDub’s buddy is a former motocross racer who is very passionate about the sport, loves Southwick and is a very successful business man who will finance the National for at least the next 10 years.
So I guess if the rumor is true then American Legion Post 338 will be getting the lease money they want and there is nothing preventing the return of the Southwick National in 2014… right? How cool would it be to have a Southwick National promoted by Kevin Windham back on the AMA Outdoor National schedule in 2014! KW14 and Southwick ‘14. Has a nice ring to it!

It still would great if he has a hand in keeping the Wick on the schedule.

I agree the KW part seems a bit far-fetched but who knows.
Also, if it does go to a new venue, wouldn't that be a new promoter DC has to work with?
Gotta give it up to the guys who tried to make it happen. It was clearly an uphill battle so you have to appreciate the effort.
Best of luck to whoever takes over promoting the 'Wick... it's still a great track with lots of history... and lots of history yet to come!

Since they saw no point in trying to start over at a new track at this point in their lives Diane and Ralph are retiring.
