KTM or Bajaj close to making a deal the the Iconic Italian brand. Ducati might bright close to 800 million pounds. Ducati would be a nice fit for KTM. Both are premium sport orientated brands.

KTM needs to buy Alta. They would then be setup to dominate nearby every corner of the future market.

Sounds about right. I've got about 350 lbs of beef coming and I'm giving about $3.25/pound. BlinkTongue

Bajaj auto is the mother company of KTM along with KTM Ag. So they're quite familiar and ready to buy Ducati from Audi.

They don't need to buy them. Could build an electric bike quick and easy on their own.

KTM could develop a bike to comptete with Alta in a year or two, but by buying them now, they own the tech and removed the competitor.

Just bought a 939 Hypermotard SP last week - glad they aren't going out of business.

Imagine the advantage of a desmodromic valve 250 or 450, valve float and valve spring failure would be a thing of the past

There are little to no benefits, just increased cost and complexity. There is a reason most motorcycle manufacturers do not use it....

Well, that's one way to win a MotoGP championship. Wink
Have to buy Yamaha or Honda for that to happen.

Done in 1971; 450cc. They had a 350cc in 1969.

There's always been a lot of talk about the complexity of desmo valvetrains. I have a 907ie with the twin valve head and while it's different I don't feel it's as difficult to adjust as a four valve head with shims under bucket followers that require lifting the cams. Not sure how the four valve heads would be.

Do you watch MotoGP? Ducati is the fastest most powerful bike in the field. Don't knock what you don't understand. The reason it is not used by other manufacturers is because it is patented by Ducati.

I can remember scoring a pound for about $250.00 back in the 70's. Those were the good ole days...

The Ducati's are fast as long as there are no turns on the MotoGP tracks. What sucks is they all have turns. Ask Lorenzo how he likes his Ducati.

Wasnt Dovi leading the championship on the Ducati recently? Petrucci looks good on them, Stoner can turn up and top the sheets or close too on one. I don't think they are that bad.
