Because you can go about 3 KTM cranks for every time you need to replace the Japanese. Less changing and better reliability.

Not the case these KTM cranks are only lasting 30 - 35 hours that seems the average range for all the oem’s.
Do you have personal experience with the other OEM cranks?

If not, do you have some links to other people stating that their Japanese (non-KTM, non-white KTMqvarna) is lasting that length of time?

I am just starting to feel like the KX85 is the way to go the price of the bike is almost $2,000 less and parts are a lot cheaper. Between the idle gear issue on these bikes and the added cost of parts this is disappointing.

My boy has over 100 on a 65 crank. I had a KTM 125 I had for 4 years I put 1 crank in and only ever put 2 top ends in. I'd have to re-ring a Honda every time I rode it. I'll never be convinced that the Japanese are even remotely the same quality or reliability after owning several of both.

Why not rebuild the crank with a rod kit and use aftermarket gaskets?

No one makes any aftermarket parts for the bike yet!!
Bummer, how many hours were on the crank? That seems like a short life span.
