Seems pretty normal for OEM prices? Should see how much Honda charge over here, $350 for a Dunlop front tyre and $100 for an inner tube

Not really here is a Yamaha YZ 85 and Kawi KX 85 crank price. What would make the KTM crank almost $200.00 more??

YZ 85 - 5PA-11400-00-00 CRANKSHAFT ASSY $217.90

KX 85 - 13031-0771 CRANKSHAFT-COMP $287.05

Why not rebuild the crank with a rod kit and use aftermarket gaskets?
No one makes any aftermarket parts for the bike yet!!

Bummer, how many hours were on the crank? That seems like a short life span.

Thats what happens when parts and bikes are updated advanced regulatory. Leave the bikes the same for 20 years like yamaha and prices can come down. Is that what you want?

33 hours on crank and it is at service limit. I know 3 other people that have only gotten this kind of time on the cracks also.

Really KTM ran from 2003 to 2017 on the same KTM motor and just update this year!!

I agree that the internals seem sort of steep-priced, but I endoed the shit out of my 150 a few weeks back and replaced half the body for the cost of a couple of OEM fenders for my YZ.

Pankl crank correct? My riding buddies Husky 501 dualsport is at 160 hrs. It has quite the knock. He took it to the dealer and they said he should've had the crank checked earlier. It's recommended to be checked at 120 hrs for wear. Blink That is crazy low run time for a dualsport bike. He needs a new crank. He's religious with oil changes and clean air filters. Runs Motul 300v.

A 501 Husky 'dual sport' isn't a DRZ400....

I have done a lot of research and these prices are high. Even with a discount they are still high. Also for the premium price that the bike is and added cost for parts KTM seems to be winning in this game.

On a side note, there is a bulletin out for the idler gear on the 2018 85sx models.......make sure to have yours checked and have the recall done if needed

Because you can go about 3 KTM cranks for every time you need to replace the Japanese. Less changing and better reliability.

Not the case these KTM cranks are only lasting 30 - 35 hours that seems the average range for all the oem’s.
