Will the 2015 KTM two smokers have the updated chassis and body work? I was wondering if any of the insiders have heard anything...

Do you mean 2016? The 2015 bike is already released. I've seen spy photos of 125s with the same chassi as the 2015FE version. If that confirms anything I'm not sure of.

Aluminum frames aren't better than steel frames. It is not considered an advancement of any sort just a different design. Carb to DI is an advancement.

I have the pretty much the exact opposite opinion. Some people might prefer the feel of a steel frame but in the long term they rust, fatigue, and crack (more than aluminum it seems) and they need to be painted or powder coated.

I do not consider FI an "improvement" on a dirt bike. 95% of dirt bike riders are better off with a carb whether they admit it or not. FI can be an expensive, complicated PITA on a dirtbike.

I must be behind the pace still, and I thought I was catching up when I bought my 2013 sx a month ago. I just sold my 2007 which I bought new and sold it for $2800. I got the 2013 for $4800 which had 9.9 hrs on the hour meter...the guyhad to of been in his sixties said it was time for him to hang up the boots.

Steel frames last longer than aluminum, stronger and can be repaired. Aluminum frames are the ones that fatigue and so on. The steel frames that are cracking are the ones from early 2000s with 500+ hours on them and if you had an aluminum frame in that exact scenario it would do the exact same thing. + i see alot of aluminum frames cracking tbh people come here with new frames all the time saying they need a swap.. i havent gotten a steel frame that needed to be swapped yet

35 yrs of riding MX tells me different. Had to get many steel frames welded. Always had to remove rust/repaint, etc. Never once had to have an aluminum one fixed. I currently have a 2005 and two 2006's I'm riding on aluminum frames with zero probs. As far as fatigue, someone cue up the picture of the pile of stretched steel KX frames at RC's farm.

I'll start worrying about stretching a steel frame as soon as I'm as fast as RC...at his current weight.

Exactly lmao

I would assume RC puts more stress on his frame than me

This is the way to do it. Clean used low hour bikes, my last 4 bikes were used but in like new condition for $1,000's less than new.

Other than aluminum not rusting, it makes no sense. All frames fatigue, but steel can do it over and over again. Aluminum has almost no fatigue rating which is why they are more prone to snapping, while steel will bend. You need more aluminum to match the strength of steel too - which is why the frames are so bulky. Honestly, as cluttered as a four stroke bay is, it would make more sense to use steel frames so you can run much thinner spars and actually have room to work. Steel frame spars with a 2 stroke give gobs of room to work, which is on of the nicest features.

Pro steel here!

Upload the photos to photobucket or any photo hosting site. Then copy and paste the image "img" code into the reply section in this thread.

Ever hafta get the bike restarted from a precarious position in which you can't lift a foot off the ground? i'm guessing not. If you had, you'd know why the button is sooo nice.

Or do an offroad race with a dead engine start. Seems like the estart guys are cheating...
