I'm really close to 'speaking with my wallet.' As one of the 'old guys who sold their 450s for a 125', I've enjoyed this season on the tiddler but I want a little more juice for '18.

I have looked through tests and reviews all over, but I can't find a peak HP number for the 17+ Husky/KTM 250 two strokes. I'm guessing it's around 50? I'm just curious how it compares to the modern crop of 250Fs.

Thanks!

Just used google and plenty of images.
Around 47HP stock and 50+ tuned.

47'ish at 8500 rpm on a TC250 2017.
That's also what the Scalvini dyno graphic above shows.

That's more then enough, that thing completely stock pulls like crazy. Love my TC

Heck, I'm impressed with what a 150 produces and how amazing it handles!
Btw, I'm a fat old 450 rider, too.

It’s not a dyno, but here is an uphill start against 35 450’s. I doubt a 250f could have pulled that start.

Love that footage - you definitely have me inspired now!
Honestly my hope was that the power was under 50. I love my 125 because I can be aggressive on it. The 450 feels like I spend a lit more time metering throttle. I think the KTHusky 250 2T sounds like an awesome middle ground, and it's still much lighter than any 250F. Fingers crossed, will let you guys know how it all turns out!

anybody knows the numbers for a Kawa 250 2T from 2004? I'm putting one in a '12 kx250f frame and wonder what the difference would be.

Do you just have the motor? If not, why not keep it in its original frame? Those thing look good as is.

Yea that was a 450, she was fast! Next year at mammoth i might put a 300 kit in it for that hill. My friends think I’m crazy but I honesty feel like 450’s are at a disadvantage, I can ride my 250sx so much harder and flow those sweeping bowls at mammoth. Yea I def loose some on the uphill, but I feel you can make it up with corner speed.

The blockpass after the downhill was nice though Evil

After watching that video you have to laugh and ask why anyone want a 4 stroke.

Have you done much to the bike so far? Any issues? From the reviews, it seems pretty good out of the box. I'm looking at the Husky BTW.

Rode an '18 300 Pumpkin X-CW, I think it was. Don't discount that motor, I was thoroughly impressed with that whole
bike, not just the motor itself. I wrote a ride report on it, a while ago. Rode it back to back with my big bore 07 450 Zook, which made it more impressive.

Outta the box it’s great, I’ve added a reed cage, pipe/silencer and put on cone valves/Traxx shock. Stock stuff was good though, but no where near the level of confidence you get with kit stuff. Only issue I’ve found was the reed cage has a gap in it, but honestly when I put the v force in i couldn’t tell a difference. 50 hours so far loving it. Just rode my friends 18 CRF450 with pro Circuit a kit, It was alright but certainly didn’t like it more than the two stroke.

Pc pipe with shorty silencer. Yes, there is a noticeable difference in power with those added. Better snap off bottom and still pulls a lot longer than stock, even with the shorty.
