KTM Clutch Lever Spring - Replacement Source ???

The clutch lever spring on my 2017 KTM 450 broke and the only way I've found to purchase a new/replacement spring is to buy a complete lever kit for nearly $25. The spring I'm talking about looks like the spring in a ball point pen and puts tension on the lever to keep it from flopping/rattling.

Out of principle I'm not willing to spend that much money for a $1 spring. The spring I'm after is pictured below. Hoping somebody found a replacement solution?

Go to a headwear store and find something close maybe?

Go to the parts store and find a few from other brands and see which one is close. Ive used some from other brands a few times.

Some models don't even have that spring at first place.

No problem. Point is you don't need it and even KTM doesn't use it for all models. Maybe that was more clear way to say go to track and ride or buy another lever.

I've used a bic pen spring before. Not kidding. 25$ for a lever is cheap also, the oem one is like $55. not a bad idea to have a spare.

Go to the dealership or any bike shop that works on ktm. I think they'll have some lying around from previous replacements.

Thanks! I already pulled a spring out of a pen last night to try but don't think the wire will be stout enough to hold up. I'll give it a go but am not hopeful.

Regarding the lever, I always have a spare lever but not a spare spring. They sell a lever hardware "kit" for around $25, not the entire lever as you point out. Since KTM levers are forged they are pricey. However, they also rarely break. I've only broken one on my last four KTM's.

I was hoping someone sourced a "heavy" duty industrial spring somewhere that would hold up better than the pen spring....

I got your p.m. I bought the lever kit, tried a few springs I had laying around, no good. I"m sure there is something out there that works...The 25.00 for the kit is bogus....sometimes Ktm parts are cheaper to buy an assembly vs an individual part. When I first saw the 25.00, I was like whhhaaattttt...

A great alternative for the stock lever. Fits perfect, exactly the same shape, and runs a bearing instead of a bushing as a pivot.

Look at the KTM parts breakout for the 2012 85sx/65sx. You should be able to buy spring separately as I have bought a few spares. The part should interchange as I gave one to a buddy with a 450........KTM part #59002035000 $2.34

Hot DAMN. Thanks. Believe it or not I found a picture of the spring you mention and it's part number, 59002035000, yesterday and ordered one last night. Problem is I had no idea the length or diameter so I had no clue as to whether or not it would work. I ordered as it was only a couple bucks. I couldn't even find which year/model KTM it was intended. VERY happy to hear it should work!!!

Most excellent and THANKS. I'm really surprised I didn't know Motion Pro was making FORGED levers as an alternative to the OEM forged as I keep up on this stuff. I know what I'll be buying if I break my spare which I believe is a cheap ass cast lever.
