Who would have thought KTM bikes would show up in little ole White House TN. First time seeing them in person and they look pretty sweet.
Sort of weird seeing a “bike shop” in the middle of the town paint store, but still cool seeing them in person.

They make great bicycles. I would love that Revelator red with the e tap. It only costs the same as a factory edition 450.

Because I know someone will ask...no, KTM bicycles is not owned by KTM AG Industries (motorcycles).

No kidding?

So someone has merely licensed the KTM name to use on their bikes?

I never looked into it but assumed they were the same company. Just different divisions or whatever.

They were all the same brand until the bankruptcy in 1991; the KTM motorcycle group, tooling, and radiator group was purchased by Cross Industries while the bicycle side was purchased by another group. It fell into bankruptcy again a few years later and was then purchased by current owner Carol Urkauf-Chen, who I believe is Taiwanese.

They just opened a factory store in Temecula, I think. I guess it's not moto related if they aren't the same company.

As stated, they are not distributed by KTM USA. They are 3rd tier brand that will give a potential dealer a lot of rope in return for some floor space. Currently fairly aggressive with sponsorships of local/regional bike race participants. Definitely a big push in the US market

Seen a few, a little on the euro/cobby side with 170mm cranks and things like that. Not priced as competitively as like a Trek or Specialized

On another note, are not the KTM moto guys in the US riding Specialized bikes?

About the same as any other open mold or contract built bike. Not bad by any stretch but definitely not pushing the tech envelope in any category. Think Jamis, Fuji etc.

Comparable to mid level Trek, Specialized, etc. high end bikes are hand laid carbon/ kevlar

I was told they are built by Giant.

I've spent a little time in Upper Austria and Bavaria and just about every touring bicycle you see is a KTM, they actually have a factory in the same town as the motorcyle guys. The touring bikes seem to be very popular over there you'll see a whole family out riding together. Very different to the scene over here. I didn't see anyone riding KTM road bikes or mountain bikes though.

Giant makes over 90% of the frames you see in their Taiwan plant, even most treks and specialized.

Mines a bit older 2014 model i think,it was a great deal that landed in my lap. It's comparable to other bikes in its class.Had to change a couple parts to make the better, overall a good bike and huge step up from old beat down Cannondale.
