Hey what's up guys so here is my review on the new bike I bought this summer. I'm not a pro at all, I just like to have a brand new bike and take it for a ride at the track once or twice a week. Since the 450 SX-F are the same in 2020, that could help some casual riders like me.
-Sprocket and chain totally worn out at (18hrs)
-Bike is getting hard to start after a wash (19hrs)
-Tires are still in decent shape but I will probably change them now (20 hrs)
-Some spokes got loose (5hrs and more)
- 2 engine mount bolts were loose (10hrs)
-This bike drink a shit load of fuel compare to my older 450fs
-The worn on the clutch and magneto covers is not to much visible
-Bike is a beast and turn really well
-I haven't notice any apparent signs of wear on the clutch / hydr. fluid
-You might gonna need a new seat cover
-The springs on the footpeg broke because my dealer didn't put them correctly
-The bike doesn't drink any coolant at all even on really hot day
-Brakes are amazing
Overall, a really good bike and I will probably stay with KTM for a couple more years

-hard start? What is your start process? Could be TPS setting or remap needed. I rarely use pressure washer on my bikes. My last 2 450 sfx”s start very easily w/out the using the start plunger.
- 20hrs out of tire? They come with the best tires you can get
- loose spokes..yes... it’s a KTM thing, I check/ tighten spokes before every ride, Ktm needs to correct this
- loose engine mounts...Assume the upper hangers? I have also had to tighten them down a bit, Did you use a torque wrench on those? Check pipe/silencer bolts while you are at it.
-drink a shit load of fuel? The gas tank is small, but it’s an MX bike, plenty of fuel for moto”s that most of us do.
-worn engine covers? The Ktm engine covers hold up well, but if you ride a bike engine cover finish is going to wear off
-bike a beast? It’s a 450, they all beast! Turn well? It took me a while of playing with setup before I felt it turned as good as my 17.
-signs of wear on clutch & hyro fluid... the clutches are the best out of all The manufactures. When it is time to replace the clutch, replace the rubber bumpers for the hub/basket also, they wear out. I have never had an issue with the hydro clutch and ai”m a clutch abuser.
-new seat cover? Seats hold up well for me. You can a new complete oem seat from Ktm for a little over 100.00, not even worth replacing just the cover.IMO.
- footpeg Springs? I have never broke a foot peg spring, but Plenty of rear brake pedal springs, when that happens buy a Honda Crf spring, it fits & does not break
-does not drink coolant.... I agree, check mine all the time because most my Jap bikes would run hot & pump out of over flow vent hose. I have never had to add coolant to my KTM 450”s. I still check the coolant before every ride day.
- KTM brakes are the best.... and I”m a rear brake dragger...
This was fun

The Shop
I say that because his test is better than 95% of the junk they used to put out.
