From ADV Pulse:

"The bike is fitted with WP XACT PRO 48mm closed cartridge Cone Valve suspension , high-quality Brembo brakes, a carbon navigation tower with new bodywork among other improvements.

A-kit style production spring fork for the next generation of SX/XC bikes?

The photos of the bike show the kit Cone Valve fork that you currently purchase, not a cheapened production version. At least from the visuals.

Gotcha. The way they refer to it as XACT Pro vs just straight MXMA Cone Valve like in the WP catalog makes you wonder though....

$40,000 finally buys you a KTM that is Race Ready.
Yeah but even if you have $40,000 in hand you can’t get one. KTM is only building 75 units and they are all spoken for already.

If you want a fright, go check the price of a 450RR piston kit. For a 2017 model , it's $4726.20 AUD. The crankshaft is $6228.40 AUD ......... But hell, if they are almost certain to get you to the end of the Dakar (and I know of blokes that have done a couple - and all of their practice and prep - on those parts, with no need for replacement on inspection) , well, they are relatively cheap parts.

The 450RRs are (wildly) trick things, certainly, and if I had the spare bucks, I'd buy one. Though, you have to put your order in right quick when they announce each new version. They are the 'go to' bike for Privateers and smaller (and Big) teams. And, some Other Manufacturers..... Good value, basically. Harks back to when things like TZs / NS's / RGs etc were relatively affordable, and available.

It seems so strange that they, KTM, don't do a more affordable version for the hoi polloi. There's a lot of ADV Poseurs out there, And genuine Travelers that don't want / need a Land Yacht. I've the feeling Honda might just beat them to it, and make up a Tank, Fairing and Tower to have on a 'Dakar' type 450L - the new, Japanese made one. Hell, they've done it on the Thai made budget 'Rallye' 250L. It would be quite a chuckle to see the niche specialists that KTM / KTHusky are, be gazumped by Honda.
