Don't know if they played it in his TV interview but after moto one over the P.A. at the track he again mentioned the short turn time between moto's, and that it was hot and humid. He routinely looks a little "less than fresh" during podium interviews compared to his competition. He definitely shows speed and ability to charge but as was seen in the last laps of moto 2 he lost positions at the end. Watched Zach Osborne again chase and pass him in the waining laps. Needs some work. TOMAC smoked it in moto 2!

Agree. He has the speed, but the heat gets to him. Although, it was fairly warm today, but not really a hot and humid day.

His conditioning is fine, he is recovering from the flu.

was not aware of that fact. I take that into consideration for this weekend's performance and will continue to observe mostly from my couch.

2 very different races,Osborne was right behind Roczen for the entire race and got him on the final lap at Thunder Valley ,this time he came through traffic from around 10 seconds back to haul him in

Roczen's laptimes got slower and slower during the 2nd half of the race,he was struggling out there

And for the record, Tomac isn't in great shape. He's been obviously overtraining, I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere...

And that Tomac won't do anything in the 450's because he didn't win one of the SX races he did this year....Surely he isn't worth any contract he signs for next year!

Does seem like Ken is out of breath more than the other riders in the interviews.
6/23/2013 3:22pm
Kenny was understandable given his illness but even without that I think the euro riders were suffering in the heat yesterday. Marvin also struggled to make progress in moto 2. Not saying those guys aren't fit but I think it's fair to say the heat isn't their strength and probably never will be. As a KR fan my guess/concern is that the 2nd half of the season is going to get a whole lot tougher, especially with Blake looking fully recovered now.

K-Roc eats cheeseburgers. It's obviously slowing him down a TON. If only he'd eat healthy food like rice cakes for every meal. He'd lap the entire field TWICE if he did that.

Take a look at me, I drink beer and eat pizza before every moto and I'm slow as hell. Imagine how fast I'd be if I ate rice cakes for every meal!!!!! I'd be a top ten AMA pro FOR SURE.

Besides rice cakes and water, what other healthy foods do you guys suggest?

I'm with you, both Kenny and Marvin looked tired. Ken locked sick in that short interview after moto two. And like you I have wondered how they will fare the second half with the heat only getting worse. our guys have lived with this heat for their entire lives. Hard to expect them to handle it as well with only a couple summers of exposure. That's why you have to respect them coming here.

haven't they both been here going on 2 years now? Aren't they professional athletes paid to be in the best possible shape in order to compete at the highest level? I am not ready to pull the plug on either of those guys, but "heat" should no longer be an excuse IMHO. That was last year. If that is the case, I would be very concerned and dismayed if I were running that team.

I think the very short time between Motos would be a big factor for one of these guys,I know Strijbos said it was a major factor when.he made the trip over(although that 1st Moto charge from last to 10th wouldn't have helped)

Roczen had 5 months over there racing outdoor MX last year and we saw how he started struggling as the races got hotter, heat isn't something he's ever going to adjust to compared to a guy like Tomac and others that were born and raised in California etc

No excuses, its just something him and Musquin will just have to deal with as best as they can

I'm a big fan of Kroc, but I noticed him looking pretty tired after the 2nd motos. Getting passed by 338 a few times late, made me wonder if he's in the best shape he can be in? I follow him on Instagram and he's always surfing, skateboarding, or just playing, which I don't blame him. I just wonder if he's training as hard as the other tops guys. Can't wait to see him on 450s though, I really think he's the one that can give RV & Dunge a run for their money.
6/23/2013 11:48pm
For sure the Euros suffer from heat & humidity (& time between motos), all their life they have been in much colder countries.

Otherwise, not starting a debate or any bashing as I like the chupacubra charges & ET's raw speed in SX, but I am also more & more surprised by BB and ET's fitnesses, how come they sometimes run 3 seconds a lap faster and then next race nothing happens ... That inconsistence is somewhat kinda weird too, maybe I am just wrong and we will see BB on a roll pretty soon once he has fully recovered from his wrist.

I think it was the pulpmx podcast after muddy creek where Kenny himself admitted that his cobditioning could be better. But he said instead of training 24/7 like some of his competition he likes to find a balance, and enjoy his life too. So there you go, case solved!

read this slowly:

he had been ill with the flu - of course his performance slipped Angry

You were given the above information in the broadcast before the racing started, and during the racing - OC also made it pretty clear above and yet you continue to analyse and misinterpret.

questioning his conditioning ? really ? the results below show pretty much who is who so far this championship. class of the field are 17 and 94 no question - look at the podium appearances.

1 94 Ken Roczen 25 25 25 20 25 18 25 22 20 15
2 17 Eli Tomac 22 20 22 25 18 25 20 18 16 25
3 25 Marvin Musquin 18 18 18 18 22 22 22 25 22 14
4 1 Blake Baggett 20 22 12 16 20 20 18 13 25 22

well this time I will give him the benefit of the doubt, But this kind of Health statements feed the rumors

Remind him passing the VIP room at Lommel in conversation with his mom he was so disappointed for his second place
(losing from Herings in the sand is nothing to be ashamed of IMO), he just hate to lose
over the years in the GPs he always had a small dip two-thirds of the season fighting back and the last part of the Seoson
he was unbeatable incl des Nations

Dont going raining on anyones parade with facts Jamie! (and for the record, pretty sure the thread was started and the 1st reply were from guys at the race and didnt hear what was said on the broadcast about his health issues)

Anyway...his heath/conditioning arent the biggest concern right now, Eli's 2nd moto speed and Bagget showing his old form are on the top of my list...WOW! Its gonna get good.

Lots of racing left and we are in for one epic summer! Lets all enjoy it....i know i will!!

Regardless of who ends up with the #1 plate at the end....it will be well earned. Cool

I'm not going to bust Roczen's balls and say he is out of shape, he is great. But, since you brought it up, the results you posted show a rider that consistently does worse in the second moto. I never really realized it until your post, ironically. It may be an interesting trend to follow.
