Yikes, he doesn’t have too worry about the 250 guys, just the 450 guys?

"We will see what we can do about the 450 guys, I’m not too worried about the 250 guys. I want to see how many points I can get ahead of the 450 guys"

He's in for a surprise.

You can read that two different ways.

1- He knows he'll be competitive with the top 250 guys but his main goal is to beat as many 450 guys as possible.

2- His head is so big that he thinks he's got the 250 class covered.

I like his confidence, let’s hope he can back it up and we’ll be in for a show.

LOL. Weege said once upon a time that in one of those questions about building the ultimate MX rider (“Dungey’s fitness, Stewart’s creativity, etc.), Justin Cooper chose his own “speed” for his make believe super rider.

Out of context to try and make him look bad. Shocker.

God forbid a rider have faith in himself. not to mention the author is a sensationalist with a National Enquirer style.

Yeah, that's not nearly as bad as the "sound bite" made it out to be. Crediting several riders and saying he thinks he'll do well puts a lot of context into the entire statement.

Thanks, Mav!

I remember that, I think it was a mid-race fluff piece on the tv broadcast. Very cringeworthy...

I took it as option #1 when I read it....

I think he will surprise a lot of people. If he gets good starts and rides smart, he'll be up towards the front in his class.

I don't really care what he says as long as he pulls two good starts and puts in one top five finish...

spot on - I shake my head sometimes when I come to Vital MX.

I think JC's point is just that he'll have a tougher time on the starts and in laptimes against the 450s on a 250F. I don't believe he meant that he was going to crush the 250s....

He clearly said he thinks he'll do okay against the 250s...that is all

Did Gatetroll even talk to Justin? They have been known to take comments from previous interviews, podcasts and videos from others and piece them together to fit their agenda...

Crossing the finish line ahead of as many 450 riders as possible is the objective, and not worrying about where other 250 riders are. THAT is what he means. The dude has shown nothing but respect with his words towards Herlings and European riders in general. Too many people with low IQs are taking the shit out of context. No doubt GateDrop expected that.

Funny you say that... in this era of media, why not a video or audio interview backed by print online?

WTF you want him to say? "Gawd, I hope I don't get my @ss kicked by too many 250 GP guys. They are so good! And those 450s? I'm gonna eat roost all day long. I think maybe I'll go curl up with a good book on European history (maybe a short one on French military victories) and take a nap. I'll be better off in my safe space."

Buncha pussies around here.

I think Justin knows he can run with anyone on a 250 in the US including super fast Euro's like Ferrandis but he may be a bit ahead of himself on a specialty track in Europe those guys train on a lot. Time will tell

I’m curious how the Euros train on Assen a lot, considering they finished building it yesterday.

Sorry but the MX2 class is weak in MXGP. Only produces 1 or 2 good riders a year. (Prado this year, Jonas last year, Sewer the year before, etc.)

Cooper is a sophomore and rides supercross. He would have spanked everyone but Prado if Prado was on a 250.

He's in for a surprise.
Well he is currently winning the qualifying race by 10 seconds.
Sounds like he knows himself a little better then you know him.
Shocker

I'd probably wait until Sunday night before you start gloating, but he did look really really good.
