I updated our silly season post yesterday with this info and now the pre-entry list for A1 is reflecting it with Colt Nichols being signed up for A1 alongside Nate Thrasher and Christian Craig for Star racing. So Colt won’t run his 1E as he’s racing Weet and vice-versa for Justin Cooper who will be East bound alongside Jeremy Martin and Levi Kitchen.

I would've thought big blue would want their bikes sporting the #1? Goes to show how much I know.

Why can't they still run there 1W and 1E plates, who cares if they are on the wrong coast.
This, and if they both win again they should run 1EW and 1WE

Both are in their final years on 250s, due to their prior championships they will both be “bumped” from 250 SX competition after 2022, regardless of how they finish this year.

Aren’t there quite a few guys moving up and a few 450 contracts up at the end of 22? Should be a great silly season

But imagine owning both 1w and 1e plates in your garage post season. That would be hella cool.

By the way, I didn't check the entry list yet, does that mean we get the revenge battles of Nichols vs Jett and Cooper vs Hunter again?

Has anyone besides Ernie and Stew done it?

Agree, you don’t get many chances to run the #1 plate. It’s like I can’t believe Herlings was thinking about not running the #1 plate.

This is a great question. I never considered that it shouldn't matter what coast they're on while running the 1W or 1E. That sure would be convenient for the riders and team.

Smart decision by both riders to learn the opposite coast tracks and build towards next season on 450s. Like how Star Yamaha is being managed.

Both of them have already ridden each coast.

It’s been proven already, but this is just another example that Star only cares about one thing and that’s winning titles. Not surprised they don’t make concessions to let their champions run the #1 plates. Smart team.

They’re teammates, so just trade plates. It’s not like they’re screwing another team over or anything.

I know, rules are rules but the AMA has loosely interpreted some of their own rules in the past on issues that were of greater consequence than this.

JGR was the only one willing to pay to run a 250 # 1 plate. Star has about 4 chances to add on this year.

Not uncommon for mxgp champ to run career number. I don’t think gasjer has run the #1

West looks to be stacked. Nichols Craig Jett Forkner mosiman thrasher. Gonna be interesting to see if Craig can actually get it done on the true west coast or will he start strong and then fizzle out again like he’s done in the past? Could Jett just get on a run and be untouchable? I think it could happen. Nichols has new trainer and mechanic how will that effect him. Forkner can he finally return to his old form? And mosiman is one thats not afraid to rub plastics. Thrasher won 2 races could he go on a run? Shit I can’t wait

Forkner will end up on the East Coast and Shimoda will ride West.

Bad move for Colt, he is a much better rider on the east coast dirt.

Craig will beat on the west coast soil.

Is everyone forgetting that "West" and "East" meant nothing last year?

"West Coast" started 8 rounds in at Orlando and then went on to places like Daytona and Atlanta.

"East Coast" raced Salt Lake City.
