Lowered a used KX65, put a washer in the exhaust, and put a Rekluse in it.
Kid says he doesn't want to ride a Honda 50 again.
The other one gets to try a PW50 with training wheels tomorrow. She gets pink plastic upon completion of potty training. They are 5 and 2.
My local KTM dealer that bumps leftovers up to full retail price can just keep their bikes.

Did you ever think that the reason they ask full retail for the small bikes is because they can get it,shame on them for trying to make money.Sad

yup you right, you right.

they will get $4400 for hotrod mini bikes from an ever decreasing percentage of parents that can afford it. That's really great for the sport

2 years old is a bit young to ride imo. 5 year old riding a lx 65 is pretty cool.

Cool pic! He’ll love that in 30 years. But may want to tuck that gas line in, he thinks it’s a straw! Lol

If a dealer cant make money to pay the bills then he is out of business and you cant buy a bike anyway. Nothing wrong with buying used but racing and motorsports in general are not a poor mans hobby.

While true it may not be a poor mans hobby, it hasn't always been just the domain of the rich man like it is becoming. $4000 for a 50 is insane and prices even most of the middle class out.

I think the idea is great, the bike can last several years and adjust with their age and ability. I'm familiar with recluse but what did you do to lower the rear suspension, i'm assuming you slid the forks as low as possible. More details on modifications please. I'm interested in the idea, i think my lil one will get another year out of the p dub but this might be an alternative for the future. At $3699. for a new kx this is rather an affordable option that should last for a few seasons.

$300 off eBay with no instructions, and things put together wrong... Took a while to figure the clutch out. Did the water pump seal at the same time.
Paid $500 for the bike. Got close to $1000 in it total.

We're right in a nice suburban area but bought property in the last little radius of old agricultural zoned land that hasn't been swallowed up by yuppie gated communities. Nice to sit on the back porch with a drink after a long day of work and watch the kids ride their bikes.

Cheers!

Well, the little guy started at 22 months, she's 2 1/2. They asked to ride,
and my fat ass needs to run on a leash.

Rear suspension has lowering links that were on the bike already to drop it 2 or 3 inches.
Up front the bike already had handle bar risers which allow the forks to slide up farther than normal. Bought a Chinese seat off eBay and cut one hell of a step seat to keep him up front and closer to the ground. Added a rekluse and a pipe washer so it's easier to ride and can't hit the power band.

We live out of town on a few acres but retirees have moved in the area and some might complain they never have but don’t want to push the point on Easter when they let us ride the rest of the year. And it’s wicked to get home put your feet up suck on a beer and watch the kids ride. Woohoo

It's good for the dealer, and as a business owner I get it. I'm just a real cheapass and want to enjoy life as much as possible for as $little$ as possible.
For $3200 I would have bought a leftover Husky 50, but the $400 set up fee plus crazy doc fees, really turned me off. The tax part is understandable.

We skipped that whole big 50 phase too. Went from an older mini adventure that was a great bike to a 65 with a recluse. Now off it an onto 85s. These 50 prices are just stupid.

XR75s for everybody baby!!! Smile

Sorry from the 70s,

Props to you parents!!

in 1976 when I was 15 my dad took me and my little bro (YZ125/XR75) from Mn to SoCal in a 1972 station wagon with an open trailer to race with the "real" racers for two weeks. Time of my life,

Dads (and Mons) are AWESOME!

Real question... What's more white trash putting your two-year old who can't even wipe their own ass on a motorcycle or publicly trashing the local dealer who's actually contributing to the growth of our sport?
