105mms if sag.

Stock suspension rocks...spring it for your weight...and dial it in with the clickers.

If your ride on public land you’ll need a spark arrestor (FMF Turbine 2)...if not, stock works great.

Buy a pipe guard if your ride near rocks.

Rather than motor mods...and unless you are a fast A rider or pro...spend the money on a riding school...improving technique will make you faster than more horse power.

^^^x1000 on the SXS slide plate, best aftermarket part I have bought hands down, possibly ever. 105mm of sag is going to make the bike ride like a chopper, I don't run more then 100 on mine unless I'm going on a more high speed track or something. These bikes are very sensitive to sag in my experience, play around with it and see what works for you, since obviously others liked running more sag on theirs. I prefer to have more weight on the front wheel, but that's just personal preference. I don't know how different the engine character of the X is, but a GYTR flywheel weight on my YZ was a welcomed mod to broaden the power. Depending on your budget, another mod I did on my yz was a rekluse auto clutch, bar none a mod I highly recommend for anyone doing relatively difficult trail rides.

To be completely honest though, you could throw on a skid plate, not touch one thing, and still absolutely love the bike. One of the most versatile platforms available right now and generally very reliable. Congrats on the purchase!

I should clarify that Im a desert guy...so high speeds are the norm.

So for moto/tight trails you might be right and starting at 100 might be a better spot.

Are there any X specific parts that are cheap to bolt on a non X? A smoother power delivery is honestly 9/10 the fastest way around a track.

You should be able to bolt the X head on? Do not quote me on that.

Going from a 04 cr 250. I feel the engine is more tractable. The front brake is amazing.

You definitely need the CDI as well, and don’t quote me on it, but I think different porting as well. The rest of the engine is the same as the MX.

Clutch springs are different, head, cylinder and power valve different. CDI different. Valving different in forks/shock.

1st and 2nd trans gear the same, 3rd, 4th and 5th different. Tank stickers different and X has 18 inch rear wheel.

Love mine!
Get sag close. Play with clickers. Jet as needed. Everything else is just personal preference. The bike comes race ready in my opinion.

22mm triple clamps if you want it to really turn. Thank me later

Edit: Only place I'd prefer the stock 25mm offset is on sand.

What's that tank you have there?

Probably the only downfall is the size of the stock tank.

Other than that I love mine.

How much range can you get with the stock capacity?
