As much as it pains me to say it, it sounds like this coming National will be the last go-round at Southwick. Call it a mix of suburban encroachment, amd new blood at the VFW post.

We'd better make that weekend one heck of a party.

Baja Acres in MI is such an amazing facility. I wish they would do something there. Wink

The reason I say Baja, it's sandy, gets rough, airports are close and nice hotels.

Did the drums tell you if this mean the track is closing or is the national just going away?
5/29/2013 1:39pm
If we go out in style then let's do it old school. No fucked up track banners and run the track counter clockwise. Rip down some of that cage wire too.

Loved racing there but I think RedBud is cool as well and it seems MXsports is trying to spread out the racing nationally hence no more Steel city

Yay, another flat, man made outdoor supercross track to take it´s place next year! Sad
What´s going on with American motocross these days? We all know the GPs suck balls due to Luongo, but why are great tracks being replaced with aweful tracks like Elsinore?

Oh, and bring bac Binghampton and Glen Helen, please...

I wouldn't mind so much if they find a decent tough sand track as a replacement. Still a real shame and I hope you're wrong ...

Is there some kind of secret guideline that says motocross racing NEEDS a sand track? They dumped tons of sand on Thundervalley, Millville has sand, Redbud is kind of sandy in spots. Glen Helen NEEDS to be back in the schedule. Cool

It's called variety and variety keeps 'boring' away and adds something special each weekend. Take a look at the GPs where every track is almost the same = boring.

But you're right, Glen Helen needs to be back ...

I forget the Amount of sand Emig said they brought into Thunder Valley this year and keep bringing in but the thing with sand is it blows away especially if its on the side of a mountain, Thunder Valley is on a ridge where they get a a lot of wind everyday of the year.

Hope the VFW can negotiate something to keep the track besides, I would like see John Dowd and his son race a pro together before he retires from the seen and at 50 would be awesome tooSmile

Sad to lose a track like Southwick that's unique to the series, hopefully it's not replaced with a character-less,same as,same as venue, that place is always awesome to see

First off...let's stick with the "replace a sand track with a sand track idea" and not turn this into a "bring back glen helen" thread. (GH is not a sand track.)

Bummer that Southwick might be going away but instead of jumping to conclusions, why not offer up some sandy suggestions...

Baja Acres is a great suggestion...any others?

Weird. Southwick was the first mx track I ever raced/ rode on - about 1975....

Wonder if that means that INDIANA location is a go ?

It would help the sport grow if they could move more races to CA anyway, no one in New England rides a dirt bike anyway. Preferably someplace flat too where they can build up some SICK jumps. Now that's motocross!!!!!
