I’m not sure what Yamaha is thinking. It’s only for one or two races though.

I'd say anything's possible, but I doubt it would be with Yamaha if he did. Even if Webb moves to another team, they'd be stupid to not move Plessinger right into that slot. And if Barcia is successful outdoors this year, they'd be stupid (again) to not lock him into something for the next few years.

Isn't Josh only 28 years old??
I mean, he's younger than Reed when he has won in SX, & certainly younger than Brayton as well.
Who, is arguably having his best year. I think Musquinn is at least 25 and getting wins too.
If he did get some type of deal for next season, and has the speed, I'll pull for him. I like both Hill brothers.

If he does well maybe a cycle trader type of Satellite team will think about it

True, didn't think about those guys. Or maybe, IBCorp ups their pit presence with Wharton on a 250 and Hill on a 450. I guess it all depends on how he does in these few races.

They don't have any 450s.

If IBCorp is doing that web series, I would think they're looking to up their team game, and a guy like Josh could probably attract an extra sponsor or two that would be willing to fund a 450, right?

I read somewhere that he would be interested in grabbing a 250 sx title

Can he still ride 250 sx? I believe he never pointed out and moved pretty early full time to the 450.

If he wants to have another go, he will get a ride somewhere. He has the name and the raw speed to do it.

According to Racer X's Vault, he only raced one season of 250 Supercross (2007), so he would be good to go if he decided to go that route.

Not to be a downer, but didn’t he race a bunch of years before retiring without a lot of success? I know he had injuries, but his peak year at Yamaha was a pretty long time ago.
Great marketing opportunity for Yamaha but not sure if they really expect results.
Still cool I guess.

Does JH still have ties to Monster? I would imagine Monster pushed this move given the state of Yamaha's team. Not to go down a rabbit hole but I wonder if Stewart's name was ever mentioned.

I thought he retired because of lingering problems with his foot basically holding him back from performing at the top very top level of the sport.

You're probably right and there will be a new thread every few months with a rumor that he will be back at "insert sx venue here."

On topic- I didn't see this coming at all. Stoked for Hill, but is he in shape at all? I know it's been a while, but back during xgames he didn't seem to be in the greatest shape ever. I'd love to see him up front though. Always been a fan of Josh and was so bummed and disappointed with his backflip crash. Wasn't he leading the championship when that happened?

Justin Brayton 3-14-1984 *just won Daytona
Josh Hill 7-30-1989 *has won before.

Some guy older than me just won Daytona.

Full comeback for Josh, makes additional 10 million.

Don't be surprised when he doesn't make the main. Or if he does, if he gets dead last.

I agree. Wasn’t he in a lot of LCQs last time he raced?

Man you guys are freaking harsh and make shit up on the fly. His last year in 450 SX was in 2015 on Cycle Trader. He went 16, 10, 12, 14, 13 before a heavy crash at Daytona caused enough damage for him to not come back. The year before he was a consistent top 10 and occasional podium threat. I don't see how any of that shows he won't make a main or trail around in dead last.

Yamaha needs Barcias bike out there for sponsors. Seattle is a home race for Josh. Its a nice gesture to ask him to come out and race for his hometown crowd and honor sponsor obligations at the same time.
