Yeah I'm not sure I'm too enthusiastic about this either after having the mental image of his first crash scarred into my brain.

Its both. Kinda like Doug Henry and his multiple comebacks. The peanut gallery will decide how the risk takers are remembered.

If he would of done his first-ever backflips with this setup, we would be having a different conversation about his career. I always wondered who told him that 60-80 foot gap to blue grooved landing was a good idea for learning a backflip. If he gets out of sorts on this one, he tosses the bike away from him and comes out okay 95 out of 100 times. On that one he crashed on, one mistake and...Well, we saw what one mistake meant.

He nailed it , to me looked effortless, while it might seem stupid I totally get the fact that he conquered it.

Yaa i know right. I remember reading that Larry Brooks (his team manager at the time) told him not to do the flip. Told him there was nothing at all to gain from doing it and everything to lose. That crash ruined his racing career. And he was learning to flip to do it for Speed and Style at Xgames. He was doing really good that year in supercross (2010) and finally living up to the potential and expectations put on him. Would be interesting to see what he wouldve done in the following years had he not done that flip.

Josh wasn't the only one who tried backflip back then. So nothing to blame to about him
