Has anyone else noticed how high Hansen has his levers? It's hard to find good pictures but you can see from some of the videos of him as well that his brake lever is pretty much horizontal and his clutch lever is actually higher than his grip. I run my levers pretty high and I'm a tall guy but I've never seen anything like that before. Does anyone else know of people that have them setup like that?
The highest lever set up i ever sore was Matt Moss back in like 2009 when he was winning lites titles here on a suzuki. It looked like he basically set the bars and levers normally, then rolled the bars back to like minus 2 leaving the levers pointing to the sky. I vaguely remember him mentioning something about it being more comfortable when leant right over the back of the bike but he's gone away from that now a bit i think.
Wanna see a crazy cockpit set up, jump on google and have a look at Luke Clouts championship YZ from last year, bars in his lap and levers facing the ground, it cool to see the different things that work for some people.
It might be 100% mental, but my hand and arm pump has been much better since the change.
The Shop
Only drawback is when you are way over the front of the bike with your finger(s) on the levers.
.
Didn't it have something to do with Shae's wrist??? Also the Rock had his clutch lever up a fair bit too I think?
Nothing "bro" about it.
Having messed around with different lever heights and reach on my mountain bike (where you're using the levers for extended amounts of time), I can see that running them lower and with the reach further in helps reduce arm pump.
Pit Row
Ive always ran my levers the same as how Josh run's his. I also ride with my elbows very high ( i always regrip when twisting the throttle). I do find i get a little bit of arm pump at the end of a 25min moto. This is normally at Coolum where its a rough sand track so that may contribute also.
I may try lowering them, i just don't want my elbows to drop. I've always been praised at how good my technique is.
When i look around at the pits it's hard to fine somebody else who runs the same lever position as Me.
