Exactly! He makes an absolute statement - “If it becomes physical on the track or off the track it results in an immediate disqualification.” Then says it doesn't apply to a different situation because of how he viewed it, but alternate penalties were warranted?! Then takes no action the take out on Ray takeout because Barcia is learning a lesson by putting himself on the ground too? Hes all over the place.

Reaffirms that there needs to be clear cut, no discretion penalties defined. Friese would owe points? Oh well. Rules are rules. Leaving it to his discretion is stupidity, wide open to play favorites.

What I got out of that was, he will do whatever he feels like and the penalties will never be consistent because what is fair to a guy like Anderson isn't fair to a guy like Vince and it wasn't ok for Anderson to smack Vince in the back of the head, but it was ok for Tickle to do it to Barcia because they were just trying to work it out? WTF?? Either the AMA needs to come up with a set of punishments for certain actions or Gallagher needs to go.

He needs to go. It's even more amazing that one with a background like his could think that these inconsistent calls are ok, and kind of amazing that Feld hasn't insisted he be replaced. Personally I don't think one person should have the job. It should be 2 or three people.

I agree. Shouldn't just be one persons job. I guess, at least we know with him penalties will consistently be inconsistent. Maybe one day the AMA will decide more than one person should have this job. Just curious though, what are the first 3 letters of AMAteur?

Do any of you even know John Gallagher? He is one of the most level headed person handling the shit that happens each weekend! No two situations are the same, there is so much that goes along with penalties. Where you say this and that wasn't fair because look what he did with this person is your lack of knowledge of that person which he has had endless years getting to know. Sometimes you can't just have a single rule and penalty, you have to assess the entire situation on the person and his past. He makes the right calls because he has put the time in to know the situation. I'll admit it he has given me and almost every rider I know the consequences for that action but he has never gone after someone for bull crap. He gives you your own rope, he doesn't put it around your neck like you all make it seem...

While I don't agree with a lot of his decisions, I sure wouldn't want his job. Seems like no matter what decision he makes a bunch of people are going to bitch and moan.

If he made the same decision for like incidents people would bitch about the him not taking the smaller neuances into consideration. It's a lose lose no matter what
