Stoked to see this kid doing so well this year. Consistent results, good speed, very impressive. Definitely the best of the rest on the east coast.

I was impressed tonight. Ran a pretty good pace in the second main.

He kept his composure for sure during that 2nd main. Strong ride, for sure.

Joey is indeed the real deal. When he came out of the AM's , he had quite a bit of focus on him but didn't live up to expectations / had bad luck. He is starting to show what he's capable of , is what I'm seeing. From what I've heard , is he has put a shit ton of work in , stayed healthy and it's paying off. And hopefully , he finds that next step , in which he's completely capable of doing if he stays healthy.

Super impressed! Now imagine if he was on a star Yamaha.
His starts have been really good, especially for a privateer bike.

To me, real deal is someone who will battle for championships. Joey is a 6-10th place guy on the east coast. Meaning hes probably a 12th-20th place overall 250 rider. Joey is faster than most thought he'd be, but dont get caught up and act like the guys something hes not. I'm happy for him and his riding but let's be honest. Essentially everyone in those 250 classes will fade off in the next couple years outside of guys like Ferrandis, Forkner, Sexton, McElrath, Cooper, Lawrence bros and a few others. It sucks, but that's the reality of the situation. So no, Crown is not the "real deal."

For clarification, I wasn't posing the question if Joey was the Real Deal for the championship. Why would anyone think that? He's clearly not at the same level as Shane, Chase, Jeremy, RJ, Jordan, etc.

Kid is riding very well and wanted to throw some positive recognition that all his hard work has paid off and he performance isn't a fluke. "Real Deal" in this case is that he's not a one-race wonder but a consistent 6-10th place guy...best of the rest sorta thing.

Rode great right along with his teammates. I'm stoked to see a team of their caliber battle up front. To see J. Hill, Lopes and Crown finish the season top 10 in points, and potentially closer to top 5 would be awesome.

Easily the biggest surprise in 250 East, and probably all of 250 SX this year so far. Damn impressive.

the kid smokes chase sexton for two titles at lorettas on 85s in 2013. breaks femur, sometime after this i think. comes back and wins a title in 250b at lorettas. 2017 gets 2nd at lortettas to justin cooper in open pro sport and 3rd in 250A on privateer bikes.. I dont know the kids history very much but i remember hearing about injuries at the wrong time. I think he tore his ACL on a snowboard before the season last year? Hes got the base and speed, it appears, just bad timing of injusries which leads to no chance at the best bikes/teams.

He should have walked right over to the TLD rig after main 2 with a pen ready to sign a fill in deal.

Watched a Canadian MX race a few years ago. He was racing the pro class as an intermediate. He smoked em in the first moto. Caught and passed his way into the lead the second moto then fell. If I remember correctly He came back and passed back into the lead after he remounted. Thought to myself damn this kids legit. Stoked to finally see him charging.

It’s obvious Crown has the speed.
Now, fitness, that may be another story.
I like what I see from both him and old hippie Josh Hill, that was damn good racing...

The young man is headed in the right direction for sure. Kind of flying under the radar.

I hope he clicks off some podiums to show the naysayers what he’s got.

Wonder what would’ve happened if he literally walked over to KTM and told them he wanted a ride. Does it ever work that way?

Got to watch him at Riverglade in 2018 on the KTM, and man he was flying. Glad to see him running up front this past weekend and hopefully he can build off it!

I hope I am wrong and I wish joey all the best. I hope he continues to improve and starts getting podiums and wins regularly. I simply dont see it happening. We rarely have those "Cinderella" type stories in this sport.

Dont think I'm knocking joey in any way. Hes been a pleasant surprise thus far. Hes been riding great and I love seeing it. The question posed was is he the real deal. When I hear real deal I think of title contender. I do not see him as a title contender and I honestly dont believe he ever will be. Will he get some top 5s and maybe a podium every now and then? Probably. But not a title.

Hes got a couple top 10's on the east coast, not wins. Some of you guys get far too excited too easily Laughing

Michigan! Enjoy watching him ride and hope he can keep this up throughout the season. If he does, he will be more than deserving of a bump or two up in support.
